She had moved to Comber after I moved away but she knew all the people I had known - things don't change too much in a small town or village. Then I received a call from a lady from Lions Head - and we had gone to school .toge'ther. - t The Signal -Star and friend "Mrs. B." of Goderich, travelled to Comber and soon others remembered "Queenie" or my other name (which I hated) Adal. No one knew of '`Martha". Anyway - I was in for a pleasant sur- prise - "Mrs. B." - the go- between - had visitors she said I had to meet and I hustled right over. There, after over fifty years was the "boy" I had liked so much and always respected above all others - Albert, - the shy one, his wife and friends. The recent G.D.C.I. reunion was a great success with so many older people coming back to meet friends they hadn't seen in thirty years or so. I must say the photos of the "Country Fair" were great, boys. Mrs. Hardy should be congratulated, too, for the excellent show. Keep up the good work, folks. After the Halloween ex- citement is over - let's hope there were enough parties to keep the kids out of mischief. Of course it isn't the little kids that do the damage but that is not the feeling of Halloween, the pranks are supposed to be funny not tragic or rotten. I remember one morning after - in this little town of Comber - the upper flat over the barber shop - I think it was - had a balcony - not too big either, but we all stared in disbelief at a horse standing on it! Now that wasn't kids work and they had quite a time getting the horse down boys' ball team at school. When I went into highschool one prim and proper teacher soon put a stop to that. "It is not ladylike to play leap frog and baseball with the boys!" she said. Broke my heart - I nearly hated having to be in highschool but then I was only 121/4 years old and I soon found new and interesting things to do - but never really put aside my love for boys! What am I saying? 'Strue! Anyway, I had a wonderful hour with old friends -- Albert's wife and the couple with him, I should have known - but although the names were familiar I couldn't just fit them in. But, then, we all change so much over the years that it is pretty hard to travel hack in just one meeting.
