Last Saturday the junior
girls played in the K -W
Officials Black and White
tournament in Stratford.

They lost to a strong
Elmira squad 50-26 in first
round play but won their
consolation round semi-final
game 55-38 over Galt Glen-
view. In the consolation

speeding bowling ball. This
week the B.D.'s took over top
spot in the standings two
points up on three teams
sharing second place. Six of
the remaining nine teams are
less than one game from first
place.
The B.D.'s picked up five
from Little Bowl Monday
night to take over top spot and
drop the Bowlers into a three-
way second place tie.
Bruce Sillib led the way for
the B.D.'s with a 293 single.
and 684 triple helping boost
his club's season total to 29.
The Bowlers used their two
point effort to grab a slice of
second place behind Al
Sanders' 284 single and Jim
McWhinney's 684 three game
total.
The Tail Ends grabbed five
from the Recalls and moved
into a three way tie with the
Bowlers and the Recalls in
second. Charlie Williams hit a
290 single and 740 triple for
the Recalls but his team-
mates could only manage one
winandsettled for two points.
Don Mcllwain highlighted the
Ends' effort with a 216 single
and 563 triple.
The Hopefuls grabbed five

spot, one point short of second
and three off the lead. Lee
Ryan had the hot hand for his
club grabbing a 289 single and
739 triple. French got a solid
effort from Carson Milley
who turned in a 259 single and
670 triple 'to help boost his
club to fifth place with 23
points.
Huromic Metals were shut
out Monday night and
remained in fourth spot with
24 points. The Metals were
thumped by last place
Augie's Dogies who got a fine
performance from Augie
Stegenstad. Stegenstad rolled
a 308 single and turned it into
an 813 triple to help his club
stay within reach of the pack.
The Metals high single
belonged to Larry Million, a
266, and the high triple went
to Denis Lebrun with a 637,
The Signal Stars were
edged by Roy's Boys 4-3 but
managed to stay in con-
tention, two points behind
fifth place Roys and eight
points off first. The Boys got a
291 single from Gerry .Pitre
and a 777 triple from Heinz
Sartori to grab four and boost
their season effort to 23. Tom
Flynn led the way for the
Stars with a 275 single and 703
triple.

Sailors split exhibition
The Goderich . Sailors
played their first home game
in two years in Goderich
Friday night and were
doubled by Port Elgin 6-3.
The Sailors faced Wingham
three days before in their first
exhibition game and ham-
mered them 14-6. Goderich
opens its Intermediate C
season at home Friday night
against Port Elgin.
The Port Elgin game was
marred by over 50 penalties.
Goderich took 48 minutes in
minor penalties, three five
minute infractions, one ten,>
minute and one game
misconduct. Port Elgin ,was
assessed 44 minutes in
minors, three five minute
penalties and one game.
Goderich jumped to a 2-0
lead in the opening period but
couldn't sustain the effort and
settled for a two goal tie at the
end of the first. With 5:42
gone in the first Dirk
Wolterbeek scored an
unassisted goal giving
Goderich the lead. Twenty
two seconds later Paul Kelly '
made it 2-0 on a play set up by
Dan Duncan.
Port Elgin roared right
back and a minute and a half
later cut the Sailor lead in
half with a goal by Rick Enos.
At 11:32 of the first Port Elgin
made it a new game on a goal
by Jack Howe.
In the second Port Elgin
scored twice in the final five
minutes of the period to put
the game away. At 15:08 Kirk
Archer finished off a three
way passing play dumping
the puck behind Ruby Fleish-
chauer and at 18:38 right
winger Doug Wood scored
unassisted to give Port a 4-2
edge to take to the dressing
room.
Wood scored again on an
unassisted play midway
through the third and Jim
McKinnon wrapped it up with
another goal on a three way
play.
In Wingham the Sailors
coasted to a one sided 14-6 win
and took only six minor
penalties along the way. Two
minutes into the game the
Sailors were on the board
when Wayne Kennedy
series
dumped the puck to Jim
Farrish and he beat Randy
Hutchinson. Less than a
minute later Wingham looked
like they might make a game
of it and completed a three
way play to tie the game on a
goal by Bob Armstrong.
The Sailors grabbed two
power play goals and two
goals with the teams even to
grab a 5-1 lead after the first.
Rick Stanton combined with
Jim Hayter on a Sailor power
play to take back a lead at
6:43 of the first and three
minutes later .,Lee Arbour
made it 3-1 Sailors. Wayne
Rau scored another power
play goal in the first with help
from Farrish and then 20
seconds later Paul Kelly and
Dirk Wolterbeek set up Dan
Duncan to make it 5-1
Goderich.
Thirty seconds into the
period Rob Stanton gave the
Sailors the lead for the third
time on a power play goal' set
up by Dick Rau. Dan Duncan
went in on Hutchinson alone
two minutes later and scored
what turned out to be the
winning goal.

Top scorer for the Vikings
in the tournament was Bonnie
Reid with a total of 27 points.
