HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Goderich Signal-Star, 1977-10-27, Page 31Couple wed in St. Marys A pretty fall wedding ceremony united in marriage Karen Lynn Mathers and Lewis Alexander McKay in St. Marys on September 30. The Reverend Chapman and the Reverend Jack Thomson, past and present ministers of Brown's Church at Brown's Corner, both assisted in the double ring ceremony which was performed at the' newlyweds' home. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Tideswell of Goderich and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William F. McKay of R.R. 1 Lakeside, Ontario. The bride worea champagne beige gown of silk organza tiered from the neck to the floor. She.alSo wore a matching broad brimmed hat of the same material. She carried a bouquet of violets and pink carnations. Matron of honor was Mrs. Darlene Tideswell of St. Marys, sister-in-law of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Miss Jody McKay of R.R. 1 Lakeside, sister of the groom. The bride's attendants were gowned alike in blue halter top silk jersey dresses with capes to match. They carried bouquets of sweetheart roses and petunias. Groomsman was Mr. Jim Frayne of St. Marys, friend of the groom. Laurie Hugill of London, nephew of the bride was the usher. Christopher David George Mathers and Kimberly Mae Elaine Mathers, the bride's two children were ringbearer and flower girl. Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the Legion Hall in St. Marys where the bride's and groom's parents received their guests. The bride's mother wore a blue crepe gown with sheer sleeves and the groom's mother wore a white gown with a pink and yellow flowered pattern. They wore corsages of pink carnations. For her wedding trip, the bride changed to a black slack suit, with a corsage of white daisies. Guests were present at the wedding from St. Catharines, Stratford, London, Lakeside, St. Marys, Goderich and points in between. The occasion was the in- stallation of officers for 1977- 78. Installed as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron were Phyllis and Allan McTaggart. Associate Matron and Patron are Flora and Don Kenwell; secretary is Joan Stiles, Past Matron; treasurer is Frances Worsell; conductress is Eleanor Williams; associate conductress is Evelyn McCue; chaplain is Harold Knisley;-Marshal is Clarence McCue; organist is Joan Henwood; Adah is 'Mildred MacKay; Ruth is Verna Kane; Esther is Margaret Alton; Martha is Alma Mitchell; Electa is Win Ferris; Warden is Gordon Ferris and Sentinel is Don MacKay. The installing board were; installing officer, Mary'Wray P.M.; installing marshal, Helen Westbrook P.M.; in- stalling chaplain, Allan -Stoll P.P.; installing organist, Evelyn Scaman P.M.; in- stalling Warden, Carlton Worsell; installing Sentinel, John Wray; and soloist, William -Stiles. Others assisting included Jack Scaman P.P., Rosamond Garret P.D.D.G.M., John Westbrook P.P., Betty Haylock P.M., Muriel Morgan P.M., Harry Tideswell P.P., Ethel Gregory 'ii.D.G.M. and William Treble P.P. The soloist sang two numbers. New officers' collars were dedicated by Mrs. Earl Westbrook. Past Matron pin was presented to Helen Westbrook by her daughter Bonnie Edgewood and Past Patron pin was presented to John Westbrook by his father Earl Westbrook. Ruth Bushell sang When You Come to the End of a Happy Year. Friends were present at the meeting from Wingham, Clifford, Brussels, Blyth, Clinton, Mitchell, St. Marys, Exeter, London and St. Thomas. a.nl in shadow cabinet Huron -Middlesex MP Bolo McKinley will remain the public works critic in Con- ' servative Joe Clark's shadow) cabinet.
