I know this is awfully

ker On marriage
Dear Ediotr,
While admitting that the
"factors" of Paul's definition
love "are healthy guides",
eorge Onwubere, in his
article on "The myths or
realities of marriage" seems
to ignore the fact that
marriage is a divine in-
stitution brought into
existence by Almighty God
for the purpose of populating
the earth, when he makes the
statement: "Society has
created marriage."
Psychologists,
psychiatrists, medical
doctors and the like give
views and counterviews on
what persons can do to have a
happy marriage. Newspapers
and magazines regularly
carry columns with advice
for the lovelorn. Still dif
ficulties mount and statistics
on marriage and divorce
show that a large percentage
of persons resort either to
separation or divorce
because they have not found
happiness.
But those who have
problems can take courage.
The Author of marriage tells
us how it is possible even in a
divided world to find
satisfying happiness in this
divine arrangement. `
Practical application of
Bible principles is vita i.
Appreciating the need for
God's guidance in order to
follow his righteous prin-
ciples, Christians will make
Bible study a regular part of
their lives, holding firmly to
the apostle Paul's declaration
that "ALL Scripture is in-
spired of God and beneficial
for teaching, for reproving,
for setting things straight, for
disciplining in
'righteousness, that the man
of God may be fully com-
petent, completely equipped
for every good work," in-
cluding successful happy
marriage. (2TIM 3:16, 17)
Sincerely yours,
C.F. Barney
Dear Editor:
Late at night on Sunday,
October 16, I was taken to the
local hospital (I was afraid I
was having a stroke) where I
was kept for two days for
observation and tests. I am
pleased to be back in cir-
culation as usual.
That Monday afternoon my
husband telephoned the
Mayor as well as the
Administrator, telling both
gentlemen expressly that I
was in the hospital and could
not be at the Council meeting
that evening. I am giving this
information for the benefit of
those who attended that "
meeting.
For years I have been
extremely lucky and not
missed any meetings, not
because I would be given
special credit for it, but in my
own interest in finding
uninterrupted and full par-
ticipation more useful. °
English Canadians just stand It annoyed me even more to
by and let people like Pepin, be absent from that par-
ticular meeting, as it covered
Keith Spicer, Rene Levesque
a number of rather major and
basic subjects on which 1
should have liked to express
my views and for which I
shall continue to seek in-
formation. I am sure I shall
come back to that later.
The meeting was also the
last one at which Mr. Harold
Walls officiated as our
Administrator. I became a
member of the Town Council
in the same year when Mr.
Walls took up his Goderich
position. For seven years we
have shared, in our own
ways, local municipal work.
As one who parts with Mr.
Walls with every good wish
for his future career
satisfaction and personal
happiness, I feel like gently
making a last attempt in
reaching ,his views on
"politicians", referring more
particularly to his remarks
on the subject in the recent
article on Mr. Walls in your
newspaper.
Politicians are nothing but
people representing other
people. Council members and
municipal employees alike
have a task and an aim to
provide a number of services
to the people who pay for it in
a variety of ways.

'Canadians are not the sort of
people who would believe that
their own fellow Canadians
would be a party to this
organized national campaign
of smut and smear and
hatred." "The federal
national unity program, he
added, is the biggest con
game this country has ever
seen and it's time to learn
what the prime minister is
really trying to accomplish.
"Trudeau's hatred of English
Canada, and of our traditions
and our heritage, is a deep
and consuming hatred," the
MP charged. "Trudeau is
every bit as much of a
separatist as Rene Levesque
and the rest of the radicals
and traitors who seek the
destruction of the Canadian
nation. The prime minister
did nothing when, in 1968.
Jean Jacques Bertrand
changed the name of the
Quebec Legislature to the
National Assembly; Trudeau
did .,nothing when Robert
Bourassa introduced the first
language legislation. Bill 22;

said. "My friends, I will say
to you here that the preser-
vation of Canadian Con-
federation is the most im-
portant issue that faces the
Canadian Parliament today
and the only place that this
can be resolved is in
parliament," Mr. Alkenbrack
stated."

14 girls attend
By Blanche Deeves
The fifth meeting of the
Holmesville I 4-H club was
held on October 24 at 7 p.m. at
Mrs. Betties' home. Fourteen
members answered the roll
call by naming one fruit and
telling three different ways in
which it can be served.
The cover design on the
girls' books is to be colored in
and put on the record books
this week. Completed record
books are to be submitted to
the leaders by November 21.
The next meeting was set for
November 2.
Menus from home
assignment meeting four
which were to be completed
for this meeting were
discussed. The girls also
discussed a pie crust made
from scratch and from a
package pastry mix. '' The
time factor, the type of flour
used and the types of filling
used were all considered.
The four ingredients of the
pie; flour, salt, lard and
water and the difference
between using pastry and all
purpose flour were also
mentioned.
The cans were of glass,
enamel, darkened tim and
darkened aluminum. Fresh
fruits, fillings and prepared
fruit fillings can also be used.
Also alternative toppings for
pies including lattice tops and
streusal were discussed. •
The girls then made an
apple pie from scratch and
also one from a mix. - by
Mary Jean Betties.
