President, Bernice Mcllwain opened the meeting by reading a poem. The group sang the WI Ode, while Charlotte Norman played the piano with everyone repeating the Mary Stewart Collect. President McIlwain welcomed the ladies and visitors to the meeting and roll 'call was answered by each member with a new word and its meaning. Alice Porter read the minutes of the last meeting and the correspondence. Marion Powell, convener for the meeting, welcomed all the ladies and introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Van Der Ende of Arie Studios, who spoke about art and` art ap- preciation and spoke of the artist in the past. It was a very interesting talk and Muriel Lockart thanked Mr. Van Der Ende and presented him with a gift of ap- preciation. Marion Powell then had all the ladies up to play a lively Holmesville news Blanche Deeves, correspondent 482-3383 game. Mrs. V. Colclough thanked the Goderich Township WI for inviting them to their meeting. Lunch was served by the committee in charge. The Goderich Township WI will be having a variety concert night on October 27 at 8:30 p.m. Please mark yol.ir calendar and tickets are available from all members. Open. House _ Mr. and Mrs:--Ray--Cox opened their home in honor of their daughter, Sheryl Cox on Tuesday, October 4 who will marry Doug Trewartha .on Saturday, October 15. Mrs. Cox, assisted by her sister Reva Wilson, with Pat Hemingway, a sister of the .bride, presented all the shower gifts and a collection of the articles that Sheryl has saved over the years. Refreshments were served by the hostess and her co - hostess, Reva Wilson. The community would like to offer their good wishes to Doug and Sheryl as they start their new life together. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Betties and family had Thanksgiving dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Allan Betties of Clinton. Miss Shirley Norman of Kitchener was home on the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Norman. Mr. and Mrs. Don Duff spent Sunday and Monday in London. Brad took part in the cart races. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Nor- man, Jacqueline and Tracy motored to Huntsville, North Bay and other places of in- terest over the holiday weekend.
