The regular meeting of tot
Goderich Branch of the
Women's Institute was held in
MacKay Hall Thursday
October 6 at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Allan Schram
presided and welcomed the
members and visitors. Mrs.
'Gordon Taylor was at the
piano. The meeting opened
with the Institute Ode and
Mary Stewart Collect
followed by the secretary's
report read by Mrs. Donald
Richt.
Mrs. Schram reported
regarding a meeting to make
arrangements for the
banquet in November. This
will he held in Victoria St.
Church on November 3 at
12:30, a turkey dinner at $4
per plate for members only.
This will be the 76th
Anniversary dinner for the
Branch, the 80th Anniversary
of the founding of the W.I. in
Ontario, the Queens Jubilee
and the Sesquicentennial of
Goderich. All members are
urged to attend.

Autumn -coloured flowers adorned the candelabra for
the evening ceremony on September 23 at Londesboro
United Church when JoAnn Scott of Goderich and Larry
inc Flynn of Kitchener exc'han'ged vows and rings before
Reverend Stan MacDonald,
JoAnn is 0 daughter of Jim and Donna Scott of 214
Britannia Road, Goderich. and Joe is the eldest son of
Hugh and Donna Flynn of R ,R 1, I ondesboro,
Soloists Barbara and Judy Carter sang "We've Only
Just Begun" and "The Twelfth Of Never" accompanied
by organist Louise McGregor.
Given in marriage riage by her mother and father, JoAnn
wore a halter -styled full-length gown of white velvet
flowers on a polyester crepe background. She wore- a
hooded full-length cape of wedding lace, Her dress- and
cape were designed and made by her sister, Judy Dixon
of Clinton, The bouquet Was a bridal cascade of orange
sweetheart roses, yellow daisies,. rust mums and greens,
She wore opal -earrings, ring and necklace, a gift from
the groom.
Jill Jervis of Seaforth, sister of the bride was matron of
honor. She wore a full-length gown of printed polyester
On an off-white background; and an off -White cape. Rust,
brown and Orange flowers were worn in her hair and rust
heads and earrings, gifts from,the bride completed her
outfit. She carried a European wicker basket of dried
statics and fall pompons,

from Huronview Auxilliary to
attend t,b,e,iF Bazaar and Tea
on Wednesday. October- 19
and donations of baking for
the Bake Table would he
appreciated.
A letter was received from
Mr. and Mrs. Barth of Blyth
regarding obscene literature
read by students in the
schools of Huron County.
Mrs: Wallace, a member of
Huron County Board of
Education, commented on
this and stated that the Board
had agreed that the teachers
should choose the type of
literature the children should
read. The letter was tahied.
Mrs. Beach donated two
-tatted doilies for the craft
tabled at the London Area
Convention September, 28
and 29,
Mrs. Horten 'Tilly, ay,
Program Convenor in-
troduced Mrs, Helen West-
brook who sang three lovely
solos 'accompanied by Mrs.
Joan Henwood. These in-
cluded An Irish Song. "I
, Don't Want to Play In Your
Yard" and -Somebody
Bigger Than Yttu or i."
Mrs. John Wallace spoke on
the Ontario Heritage Act and
told about those houses and
the area in Goderich that
have been recently
designated. Mrs. Talway
presenteOt these ladies with a
small gift in appreciation.
She also showed a "Fill of
Sale" for 1/4 acre of land on
East Street from the Canada
Company to Thomas Dancy
dated 1853. The stone house at
108 East Street was built later
that year. The Talmays lived
there from 1941 to 1962 and
these papers were found in a
partition during remodelling.
The Roll Call was answered
by presenting an antique
article and telling a little
about it. Many beautiful
items were on display.
Mrs. Talmay read the
report of the Huron County
Rally held in the Howick
Community Center, October,.
3 with the Lakelet Branch as
hostess.
Mrs, E. Sitter reported
$354.50 received from the sale
of tickets on the afghan` The
draw will be made at the
banquet in November.
Mrs. Schram declared the
meeting closed and tea was
served by Mrs. A. Oke and
her committee and a social
hour enjoyed.
Were Down Flynn of R.R. 1, Londesborrl, sister of the
groom, and Julie Scott of Goderich, sister of the bride.
Cherie Carter of Clinton, niece of the bride, was
flowergirl.
The bridesmaids wore ensembles identical to that of
the matron of honor and carried identical baskets. The
junior bridesmaids and flowergirl wore rust -coloured
dresses and off-white capes identical to the other at-
tendants. They carried miniature baskets of flowers, and
wore gold chains, a gift of the bride.
BobBeacom of R.R.1, Blyth, a friend of the groom was
the best man, Randy Miller, Londeshor•o, friend of the
groom, Steve Clark, Stratford, brother-in-law of the
•groom, Jamie Scott, Goderich, brother of the bride,
Derwin Carter, Blyth, friend of the groom, and Jim
Flynn, R..R. 1, Londeshoro, brother of the groom, were
ushers. Norris Flynn, R.R, 1, Londcshoro;. brother of the
groom, was ring bearer.
The groom and his attendants wore dark brown
tuxedos trimmed with br•oWn Velvet. Bow ties and vests
of brown velvet and beige ruffled shirts completed their
Itutfits.
The groom's boutonniere was an orange sweetheart
rose and the hestman, ushers and ring hearer wore
yellow carnations. The ring hearer carried a white satin '
heat -shaped pillow.
Following the wedding a reception was held at the
Clinton Legion Hall. Ken Scott, uncle of the bride acted
a, master of ceremonies.
The bride's mother greeted guests in a peach and pink
fullal.ength gown of polyester with an empire waistline
and 'tort bat -winged sleeves. Her corsage was pink
Co rnat ions.
The grooms; mother wore a brown full-length gown
with a brown printed- jaeket. Her corsage was yellow
roses.
The bride's father and the groom's father wore brown
tuxedos identical to the groom and his attendants. Their
boutonnieres were identical to their wives' corsages.
Honored guests present at the wedding were the
bride's paternal grandparetns, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Scott of
R.R. 1 Blyth, and the groom's paternal granfather,'Mr.
rioe Flynn, of Huronvtew.
For travelling to Niagara Falls, the bride wore a blue
jumpsuit with brown accessoreis.. Her corsage was of
white carnations.
Prior to her marriage, the bride was honored at many
showers. Rosallie Langford and Penny Crawford both of
Goderich, held a surprise shower at Rosallie's for Jo
Ann's baseball team. Judy Dixon held a tupperware
shower at her home in Clinton for relatives and friends.
Dorothy Dupee and Rita Powell both of Clinton held a
shower for relatives at Dorothy's. Jill Jervis -and Jay
Carter held a surprise Hag at Jill's in Seaforth.
The newlyweds will reside in Kitchener.
