To Jamaica
Bisset
White candles, pink gladioli and white daisies in
candelabra decorated Knox- Presbyterian Church on
September 29 at 3 p.m. for the double ring ceremony in
which Whitford John Wesley Vance and Linda Lee
Carman were united in marriage.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Carman
and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Whitford Vance,
all of Goderich.
The Reverend G.L. Royal officiated at the ceremony.
Organist Lorne Dotterer and soloist Phil Main Jr.
provided the music.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a
full length wedding gown overlayed with chiffon and
highlighted with lace, The gown was fashioned in an A-
line style with an empire waist. It featured a scooped
neckline and long diaphenous sleeves also trimmed in
lace: A formal length sheer veil completed the gown. The
bride carried a cascade bouquet of pink sweetheart
roses, white miniature carnations and yellow baby's
breath.
Maid of honor was Miss Debbie Barnim of London, a
friend of the bride. She wor a sleeveless coral -pink
colored polyester gown with matching sheer cape and
pink and white minature carnations in her hair. She
carried a colonial nosegay of pink and white variegated
miniature carnations and baby's breath accented with
white lace streamers.
Bridesmaid was Miss Kim Carter of Kitchener, a
friend of the bride. She was attired the same as the maid
of honor.
The flowergirl, Miss K-i-m--C.aarli.an, sister of-the...hride.,..,,,,
was dressed in a formal length pink cotton print dress
trimmed with lace ribbon. She carried a white basket
with pink sweetheart roses, white miniature carnations
and yellow baby's breath.
Jim Vance, brother of the groom, was groomsman. Bill
Wallace of Goderich was usher with James Vanstone,
brother-in-law of the groom assisting.
Jeff Hexamer of London, nephew of the groom was
ringbearer.
The groom was attired in light blue tails with a pink
ruffled shirt. The groom's attendants and the ringbearer
were dressed in light blue tuxedos with dark blue velvet
lapels, dark blue pants and vests and pink ruffled shirts.
The groom wore a yellow rose boutonniere. The
groomsmen, both fathers and the groom's grandfather
all wore white carnation boutonnieres.
Following the wedding ceremony, a receiving line was
formed at the dinner -reception held at the Maitland
Country Club. The bride's mother received guests in a
floor length rainbow colored polyester print gown with
matching chiffon cape. She wore a corsage of pink
miniature carnations.
The groom's mother chose an emerald green gown of
polyester crepe and a corsage of yellow sweetheart
roses.
The bride's grandmother dressed in a turquoise gown
and also wore a yellow sweetheart rose corsage.
Master of ceremonies at the dinner -reception was Mr.
Jeff Share of Kleinburg, Ontario. Music for the reception
was supplied by Mr. Joseph Ducharme.
After a honeymoon trip to JamicaNr. and Mrs. Vance
will reside in Port Albert.
Prior to the wedding, the bride was feted at showers
held by Miss Kim Carter, Miss Linda Vance and Mrs.
Elinor Taman.
Guests were present at the wedding from Toronto,
Kleinburg, Paisley, Sarnia, London, Kitchener,
Mississauga and Goderich.
Golden Gate Club to entertain
Exeter and Clinton seniors
The Golden Gate Senior
Citizens of Goderich will
entertain the Senior Citizens
of Exeter on Wednesday,
October 19 at 7:30 p.m. in
MacKay Hall. Cards will be
played after which lunch will
be served.
Also on November 2, the
Golden Gate Senior Citizens
will entertain the Clinton
Senior Citizens at 7:30 p.m. in
MacKay Hall at which time
the Senior Citizens Rhythm
Mary Jane Bisset, daughter
of Rev. and Mrs, Robert
Bisset, formerly of Goderich
and Aranddaughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Bisset, of
Goderich, has been hired by
two Sarnia Presbyterian
Churches to act as their
Christian Education
Resource Worker for the
coming year.
Miss .Bisset, a recent
graduate of Ewart College in
Toronto, will direct the
Christian Education
Program at tioth St, Andrew's
Church and St. Giles' Church
in Sarnia.
Faced with implementing a
new Church School
curriculum and with the need
to provide more resources for
teachers and leaders in the
church, the two Sarnia
congregations decided last
spring to proceed together to
find a deaconess to assist
them.
Miss Bisset is well qualified
for her new position. Her

and plan and carry out
Christian Education
Workshops.

The October meeting of the
Maple Leaf Chapter 1.0.D.E.
was held at the home of Mrs.
R.L. McDonald. Mrs. G.L.
Royal, Regent presided for
the business. Reports were
accepted from the various
secretaries and conveners
and- it was noted that the
Provincial Annual meeting
be held in London next
ye-ar an that Mrs. Royai
presented two history awards
at the G,D.C.I, com-
mencement.
The chapter voted to
purchase a wreath for
Band of Stratford will give a
musical entertainment.
Lunch will be served. The
Golden Gate seniors. hope to
see all seniors out for both
evenings.
Remembrance Day and to
support once again a Korean
child.

included Allen Stall, Roy
Mugford, Claire McCue, Bert
Such, John Westbrook of
Goderich Township and Les
Hobkirk of Seaforth. Other
members of the patrol were
from Lambeth, London,
Ingersoll, Embro and Guelph.
