PHOTO BY FRANK PHILLIPS Falls honeymoon North Street United Church was decorated Nvith yellow daisy mums, white gladioli and White streamers in candelabras for the wedding ceremony of Ronald George McPhee and Deborah I:ynn Hoy on September 24 at 4 p.m. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. Robert W, Hoy. 188 Blake Street, West in Goderich and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oral McPhee of Auburn. The Reverend Ralph King officiated at the double ring ceremony. "1r. Robert Blackwell presided at the organ. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a full length wedding gown of taffeta overlayed with chiffon and trimmed with lace. The gown featured a high neckline and long sleeves hoth accented with lace. A juliet cap held the bride's veil which was alste trimmed with lace. The dress and veil had a long' form:+l tram. The bride carried a bouquet of sweetheart roses. yellow daisies and baby's breath. Maid of honor was Miss Leslie„MacEwan, friend of the bride. She sore a powder blue colored dress of taffeta overlayed with flowered chiffon, featuring an empire waist, capped sleeves and trimmed with white lace. She also wore a powder blue picture hat trimmed with Hue rihhon, She carried a bouquet of mixed colored and white daisies with peach colored baby's breath'- ' Bridesmaids were Diana Degraff of Auburn, Debbie Bow&n'ongannnn n.'d Dianri-Glousher,orGod'oreir, all friends of the bride. The bridesmaids were attired the same as the maid of honor only in green, peach and yellow colors respectively. ' Flowergirl was Miss Kelly Hoy, sister of the bride, She was also dressed identically to the maid of honor only in pink. Groomsman was Paul Hamilton of Goderich, friend of the groom, Ushers were Tim Gtousher and Wayne McLean, both of Goderich and Bill Bowden of Dungan- , all friends of the groom. ..arren Gibson of Ridgetown, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.. The groom was attired in a powder blue tuxedo with a powder blue ruffled shirt trimmed with navy. Dressed identically to the groom was the bride's father and the groom's father, The grooms attendants wore navy blue tuxedos with shirts identical to the groom's shirt. They all wore white carnation boutonnieres. Following the wedding ceremony, a dinner was held in Auburn Community Hall at which the receiving line was. held, The bride's mother greeted guests in a yellow floor length gown of taffeta overlayed with chiffon. The dress featured an empire waist with yellow bows accenting the sides. She wore a corsage of yellow sweetheart roses. The groom's mother chose a rose colored floor length .gown of polyester crepe and a corsage of white rose buds and baby's breath. Master of ceremonies at the dinner was Paul Schutz. Following the dinner, a reception was held at the Goderich Memorial Arena. ° Music was supplied by Southern Comfort and lunch was served at midnight. For a wedding trip to Niagara Falls and Manitoulin Island, the bride changed to a three piece powder blue pantsuit with matching blouse and a corsage of blue and white sweetheart roses. • Mr. and Mrs. McPhee will reside at RR 5 Goderich. Prior to the wedding. the hride was feted at showers held by Mrs. Paul Schutz and Miss Leslie MacEwan. . Guests ;were present at the wedding from London, Toronto, Sarnia, Brampton. Ridgetown, Wingham, Woodstock, Chcsley and Mississauga. Bridge Scores There were 10 tables in play at the September 27 meeting of the Goderich Duplicate is Bridge ,club. Barry Deathe and Aelian Weerasooriya topped the North-South division with a 1311,1 point effort edging Larry Sloan and Sam Hassan who finished at 1291/2. Mary Phillips and Sandra Turville amassed 122 points for the night" and Joo Martin and Leonard George finished with 1141/2. Audrey Tobin and Vera Hills topped the East-West players and enjoyed the hest score of the night with a 144. Art .Wilson alld Omar Haselgrove tied with Mary Donnelly and Eleanor Erskine for second with 121 points and Don Eadie and Mary Brown tied with Lee Ryan and Joanne Duckworth at 1121/2 for third place. The second year that the Gift Shop was in operation, the Auxiliary again showed a profit.. As a new enterprise they purchased little girls' dresses and little boys' romper sets from wholesalers in Toronto to sell in the Gift Shop and they proved very popular. Today the Gift Shop is still going strong and so is the Women's Hospital Auxiliary. 'There are about 39 members in the Auxiliary. They meet the third Monday of every month at 2 p.m. in their own Auxiliary room in the hospital basement. In May or June every year the Auxiliary holds a penny lair and tea, in October they ,ell calendars and all during the year they operate the Gift Shop. They also have five sewing machines with which they do hospital repair work such as mending linens, This year with the money they made. the Auxiliary donated a life size model of a human body to the hospital. This training dummy cost $2,852 and is used for prac- tising intravenous, artificial respiration, etc. One year the Auxiliary equipped the maternity waiting room with carpet, furniture and a television set with the money they made. In past years the Auxiliary has donated steel trays, surgical instruments, an operating room suction pump, in- cubators, a gas anaesthetic r i:rchine, fracture beds, wheeled stretchers, heat lamps. a doctor's headlight, a tiling cabinet, oxygen tents, wheelchairs, an operating room table, vacuum cleaners, sewing machines, a washing machine, an ice making machine, a refrigerator for the laboratory, lounge chairs, curtains, blinds and floor 1 Eeopie...aicular says Mrs. White, they don't sell and they have to be put on sale. Mrs. Worsell says the Gift Shop can sell children's clothes at the cheapest prices in town because they don't have any 9verhead to pay such as rept. Mrs. Worsell Wants to make it clear that any woman can join the Hospital Auxiliary. She doesn't have to have any particular connection with -the hospital. The AuSciliary is a worthwhile and charitable group which gives its members a feeling of satisfaction'. The work that they do is of vital importance to the hospital. President of the Women's Hospital Auxiliary, Frances Worsell sits in the Maternity Waiting Room. The room was furnished and carpeted with money earned by the Auxiliary. The Auxiliary earns its money to buy hospital equipment by holding an annual penny fair and tea, by selling calendars and by operating their Gift Shop at the hospital's entrance. She was the convener of the Gift Shop for 16 years. This year, Irene White is the convener of the Gift Shop. The Gift Shop is open six days a week 'from 2 to 4 p.m. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the Gift Cart makes its rounds on each floor of the hospital. The Gift Shop sells candy, toys, cards, toiletries, stationary, blankets and baby clothes up to 24 months. Both Mrs, Worsell and Mrs. ``White' say they need more volunteers to man the Gift Shop. They would like to be atilt' to keep the shop open in the evenings. They also need volunteers to knit baby outfits and mittens. Twice a year the Auxiliary President and Gift Shop Convener visit Toronto wholesalers to purchase baby clothing. u This year Mrs. Worsell and Mrs. White said that the price of clothing was up considerably and they could not afford to purchase a, much as they would have liked to. They saw children's overalls for $14 and little girls' dresses for $25.
