ire results in loss
Three brothers, farmers in
Colborne Township who work
together, Wayne, Barry and
Clare Millian, suffered a
heavy loss last Tuesday when
the barn on the farm where
Wayne and his family live,
burned to the ground. There
was a heavy loss of hay and
straw but fortunately 'no
livestock was lost in the fire.
It was in the morning bet-
ween 6:30. and 7 a.m. when
Wayne and his wife were
doing chores and everything
was in order, but suddenly at
approximately 7:30 the barn
was a mass of flames. Mrs.
Millian noticed it at once and
quickly phoned the Goderich
Fire Department who
responded to the call but
could only stand by to protect
other buildings and the house.
There will be a Benefit
Dance for the Millian boys
this Friday evening, October
7 at Saltford Valley Hall 9
p.m. to 1 a.m.
FAIR
Next week will be a busy
week for many in Colborne
Township and Saltford Valley
Hall will be a hive of activity
on Wednesday, October 12
and Saturday, October 15 for
the Christmas Country Fair
will be in full swing. There
will be crafts of practically
every kind imaginable with
many new ones which will
give many ideas for gifts for
Christmas. Then there are
preserves and homemade
baking that seems to vanish
in a hurry and as always,
apples, honey and
homegrown vegetables fresh
from the garden. This affords
a splendid opportunity to do
your Christmas gift shopping
and your chance to stock up
on food. Meet your friends at
the Christmas Country Fair
next week.
