Daer played less than three innings in the final game but his presence was the dif- ference in the McGees win. Rick Sowerby started the game on the mound for McGees. and pitched strong for four innings giving up only five hits. One of those hits was a two -run homer by Rick Duckworth in the fourth in- ning that narrowed the McGee lead to 3 - 2 after four innings of play. He was then forced at second on .Ken Vanderburgh's ground ball to first baseman Don Parker and Langlois fanned Doug Spitzig for the second out.
