Fair at Saltford on Wed-

Saturday, October 15, 1977,
This year you will have a
chance to meet that beautiful
person Blanche Pownall
Garrett from the Stone
House, Colborne Township.
Now there are lots of stone
houses but I think Mrs.
Garrett's is one • of the
friendliest you will ever find.
A taste of the wild - in her

to miss.
There are so many in-

Stouffville man says Laetrile helped
Gerry Gorrell, 57, of
Stouffville, wab diagnosed as
a cancer sufferer early in
January 1977 when a cancer
which had invaded his liver
caused his bowel to burst,
nearly killing him outright
from shock. He didn't ask
how long he had to live, but all
the books said from three to
six months. Of his own
initiative, he began treat-
ments with the controversial
anti-cancer drug Laetrile. He
is now convinced that the
drug should be legalized and
,administered free to cancer
patients.
,A business associate first
told Dorrell about Laetrile,
the serum outlawed in parts
of the U.S., manufactured
from apricot kernels. He
began a homespun Laetrile
therapy, eating 25 to 30
apricot kernels a day, pur-
chased from health food
stores. They taste,, very
lightly like almo ds, a clue
in the cyanide in e kernel's
cc:ntents.

Next Gor-r•ell flew to the
renowned Lahay clinic in
Boston where he questioned a
doctor- about Laetrile. While
the doctor did not recommend
the drug, he told Gorrell not
to leave any stone unturned.
On May 26, 1977 the
Gorrells went to Mexico to the
Clinica Cydel in' Tijuana.
After undergoing a series of
tests, Gorrell was given his
first injection of Laetrile
combined with a twin in-
jection of cytoxin, an or-
thodox cancer -fighting agent
.widely used in Canada. Every
morning Gorrell reported to
the clinic for his 400 -
milligram Laetrile injection.
After two complete cycles of
Laetrile injections, Gorrell
returned home. He follows a
very strict program of food
rules taking '100,000 in-
ternational units of vitamin A
daily.
He orders Laetrile from the
Mexico plant. Every day his
family doctor injects him
with 40 CCs. The doctor
agreed to do it and purchased

Laetrile costs Gerry $400 a
month, paid in advance.
Gorrell wants to see
Laetrile legalized. "The stuff
costs just cents to make.
Anyone Tran get cartccer, but
you need money to buy
Laetrile because of the rules,
That's not fair to my way of
thinking."
