Thursday -afternoon,
Spetember 22 for their pastor,
Reverend Father Ed Den-
tinger, C.R. and senior
citizens celebrating birthdays
(75 years or more) in the
latter half of this year, from
July to December.
Games of cards were
played with five tables in
play. Prizes were given to:
ladies' high, Mrs. Pearl
Congram; ladies' low, Mrs.
Jack. V'IanOsch; men's high,
was a tie between Frank
Suli=van and Frank Austin,
withthe latter winning the
draw. Fred Vassella was
winner of men's low. Tea,
coffee, cookies and birthday
cake were served..to the bir-
thday celebrants and to all

A large crowd attended the
bridal shower for Miss
Michele Austin, daughter of
Mr, and Mrs. Vincent Austin
held on Wednesday, Sep-
tember 21 in St. Joseph's
Parish Hall at Kingsbridge.
-Miss Margaret Austin,
chairlady, welcomed the
ladies and asked Mrs. Walter
Clare to play "Here Comes
the Bride" while Michele and
her attendants, Charlene
Rourke and Debbie Stothers
took their places at the front
beneath hells and streamers.
Mrs. Walter Clare played for
a singsong. Miffs Irene
Logtenherg played piano
selections. The address to the
bride was then read by
Margaret Austin. The many
lovely and useful gifts were
carried in by the pre-school
girls in the audience.
Michele expressed • her
delight with the many gifts
she received and thanked
those who helped in any way
to make the shower so suc-
cessful. She invited everyone

Friday, September 30 as the
teachers will be holding a
professional day. School will
also he closed for
Thanksgiving on Monday,
October 10.
The girls and boys soccer
teams from the Holmesville
school will participate in a
competition at Huron Cen-
tennial School, Brucefield on
On Thursday evening,
September 29, an open house
will be held at the school from
7:30 to 9 pm. This is an op-
'portunity for parents and
teachers to become better
acquainted, We shall look
forward to meeting all
parents at this time. Please
reserve that evening,
The school band is under
the direction of Robert Black-
well and has 35 members.
Twenty-one are in grade eight
and 18 of those have played in
the band for two years. There
are 14 students in their first
year.
Support for the school band
has been received from the
Board of Education, the
Goderich Lions Club, and the
Goderich Township WI.
