The Consolation Award went to the team of Sandy Braid and Sandy MacDonald, who outlasted Roberta Stemp and Sharon Brown by scores of 6-4 and 7-5. The team of Shelagh Sully and Allison Hollingworth won the tournament, with a 6-4, and 6-3 win over a strong intermediate team of Margaret Conlon and Margaret Hill. The trophies were given and presented by Ken Koss of Goderich Sports. Ken Koss, manager of Goderich Sports, presents Allison Hollingworth and Shelagh Sully with the Goderich Sports trophy after the ladies won the Ladies Open Doubles tournament sponsored by the Maitland Tennis Club. October 5, the Goderich Township Chess Club Lk 11 begin its sixth season' The Club has had a very yuck's'ful five years reaching; a peak of 35 members in 1976. The club accommodates, chess players of all calibre,. Beginners fit in as well as experienced players. ' . The startdings are divided into four TTvels. The players with the highest win -loss percentage ..fit into Level 1 while those with the lowest win -loss record go into Level 4. There is also an honorary division for those who cannot. attend regularly but wish to play an occasional game. The season consists of all players playing all others a maximum of three timnes. At the end of the regular season each Level enters individual play-offs for trophies. Last year's winners were Level 1 - Chas. MacUO ald; Leiel 2 - Brian Milie.>:Level 3 - Bob Fitzjames and Level 4 - Barry Page. The most improved player was Brian Miller. The club meets every Wednesday from 7:30 till 11. Membership fee is $10 a season which pays for trophies, a banquet and chess equipment.
