Mrs. Elma Reed was guest
of honour recently at the
birthday party given by her
daughter Doris, Mrs. Lorne
Eadie, and granddaughter.

Lucknow, W ingham,
Kinlough and Holyrood. An
interesting program was
given during the afternoon. A
delicious dessert was served
and pictures were taken. Mrs.
Reed was 85 years of age on

For Brookside students it
was back to school on
Tuesday for the 1977-78 school
year. Three hundred and.
fifty-six students registered,
including twelve n6
students. There is only one
new teacher this year, Mrs.
Nancy - Cameron (nee
Shelley) who teaches Grade 3
and 4. She is welcomed to the
school. There are also, thirty
new kindergarten scholars
being initiated into school.

Dungannon Christian
Fellowship Church had ar
busy time over the
weekend, Saturday -,was

crop planted by them in May
on a plot of ground owned by
Ntr. Murray Martin. About
1,600 pounds of potatoes were
dug, bagged and weighed.
These potatoes will he sold
locally and the money from
them will go toward some
missionary. project decided

served 'at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Peter Martin, This
proved to he a good chance
for the new pastor and his
wife to hecome acquainted
with the youth of the
Congregation.

Rev. Lawrence gave his
first message as pastor here,
speaking about the work of
the Holy Spirit from Acts 1: 1-
8. He -pointed out how the Holy
Spirit takes us from darkness
into His glorious. light and,
gives the believer power to he
victorious in his life. Genesis
1:2 says "the spirit of God
proved upon the face of the
waters.. The word "moved"
denotes power - the power -
availablc in God who also
gives the desire to witness for
Him - first at home, then in
the community and finally-,
unto the uttermost •parts of

Human Rights explaining
palms of the periodical "The
Citizen” and the Bill of
Rights, outlining the
resporjsihilities of each in-
dividual. Mrs. Hugh
NtcWhinney thanked her and
presented her with a gift.
The motto, "True living is
living for your fellow man,"
was given by Mrs. Cecil
Blake who then asked all to
sing, "The Hymn of All
Nations," the convention
song.
Nir. Lloyd Barth of Blyth
spoke strongly for 10 minutes
a,.gainst the language
prevalent in many of the
English textbooks used in our
Secondary schools, stressing
that such filth and blasphemy
is harmful to our youth.
Schools, he said, d, should
develop character not mar it!
Mr. Barth asked each
Member to write to
authorities demanding im-
provement or prepare a
resolut ion.
Collection was received.
The Queen and W.I. Grace
were sung followed by a
lovely lunch while visiting the
