HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY The Auburn Horticultural Society executive met last week in the T own Hall with the president, Mrs. Dorothy Grange in charge. The minutes were accepted as read by the secretary Mrs. Thomas Haggitt. An in- vitation to attend the special meeting of the Goderich Garden Club on September 21 at Victoria School in Goderich at 8 p.m. was accepted. The financial statement was accepted as presented by the treasurer, Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock. Plans were made to have an open meeting on October 3 when the District Director, Mrs. Russel Bray of Lion's Head will be the guest speaker. There will be_ a 25. cent sale of slips and plants and also for potted plants.. Mrs. Donald Haines and Mrs. Beth Lansing will be in charge of this. The hostesses will be Mrs. Robert 'Arthur, Mrs. Elmer Trommer, Mrs. Catherine Jackson and Mrs. Brian Hallam. WI Meets The Goderich Township met at the Holmesville School on Monday, September 12. Roll call was answered by a public school you attended and its use today. The president Bernice McIlwain conducted the business. The WI convention will be held at the Community Centre at Vanastra. They urge all members to attend. The Godericli Township WI received a Golden Jubilee Three award for participation in Sesquintenial Celebrations. The members are invited to a workshop on October 13 at Carlow from 10 to 4 pm. The Huron County Historical Society members have a meeting planned for September 14 in Hensall and October 19 in Dungannon. Hazel McCreath will be in charge of crafts. Visitations at Huronview on the third Monday of each month will be continued. A variety contest is planned for October 27 in the school auditorium. Card parties will he held on Monday, Sep- tember 10-24 and also on December 8. Mrs. Evelyn Orr introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Shirley Hazlitt who talked about the community and the school during the century. A question and ankwer period followed. Mrs. Effie Yeo presented Mrs. Hazlitt with a gift. - Bernice Mcllwain presented Myrtly Banter with a gift from the WI. The meeting then closed with Marion Powell in charge of a ball game with three tennis.
