PAGE8--GODERICH SIGNAL -STAR, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 1977 !ORTSP GE Three way tie at Sunset ladies' tourney BY CHRIS WILDGEN A three way tie for low gross of the day made the First Suns,,.t Ladies Invitational Tournament an exciting and successful day: Nel Plomske from Rockway Kitchener was the overall winner defeating Janet Dugan and Judie Hunter both from Kincardine in i3„Stidden death playoff. All three girls shot an 83. Sheila Cameron from the Wingham Club won low net for the day with a 67 net. First flight winners were" Janet Dugan and Betty Walker from Wingham. Second flight winders were Shirley Baechler from Sunset ..P.hil.i.R.....from. Stratford. Ellen Connelly and Marj Smith both from Sunset captured third flight. A special thank you goes out to all the girls who helped make this such an eventful day. Ladies are reminded that September 22 will he the closing dinner served by Mrs. Miller. Please sign in at the pro shop before September _0 - Sue MacAdam was the low gross winner on ladies' night with Shirley Baechler win- ning low net in first flight. Second flight winners were. low gross, Grace Saleand Icy net, Pat Chisholm; - with Peggy Cook winning low gross and Jean Adams winning low net in third flight. On Monday September 5 the mixed two -ball group enjoyed a brunch at noon with the following prize winners: s and 1Jiu e 1.yndon with a 37 (Great Golfing): second, Gerry Mountford and Paul Baechler and third Shirley Baechler and Andy Smith. On Sunday past the Sunset hosted their first annual -couples tournament.• Carol and -..Brendan McGahan of Thames- Valley were the low gross winners with 157. The low net winners were Sandy and Bill Turvill of Kin- cardine. Kincardine's , WOWS" were no match for the out- standing Maitland juniors - and intermediates. The Maitland winners and their scores are as follows: women's singles, Marg Conlin 6-1; Marg Hill 6-2; and Eve Roberts 6-0; men's singles, Tom Fincher 7-5; John Brown 6-2; and Jim Costello 6-0; women's doubles, Marg Conlin and Eve Roberts 6-1; men's doubles, ,Tim Costello and Ronon Conlin 6-3; and John Brown a-nd Tom Fincher-6-2; mixed •doubles, John Brown and Marg Hill. The kids finished up the evening with pop and donuts. There will be a men's singles club, championship held'on Saturday, September 17 at 10 a.m. Entries will be accepted at the Pro Shop until September 15. There is no age limit for this tournament, On Saturday, September 24 Stanley wins trap shoot Paul Stanley was the high scorer at the Vanas,tra Trap shoot on September 10 with 24 lnn.ints. He was closely followed by john Helsel of Goderich and Bradley Mann of Hensall with 23 points, while Jamiek Caldwell of Kippen had 22. John Anderson ofKippen, Bill ltoussey of Kitchener, Harrison Schock of Zurich and Bill Pincombe of Toronto had 21.
