The Kingsbridge boys'
baseball team (ages 12 years
and under) took part in a
baseball tournament held in
the Dungannon Ball Park on
Saturday afternoon and
evening, August 27. Four
teams took part. In the first
round• North Ashfield
defeated Lucknow and
Westfield defeated
Kingsbridge. The winning
teams played off with North
Ashfield defeating Westfield
to win the championship.
Lucknow defeated
Kingsbridge in the con-
solation round. The boys are
grateful to the coaches and
umpires who made this day
possible.

FAMILY REUNION
Approximately 300 persons
attended a Drennan Family
Reunion held at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Drennan
and family on the 9th con-
cession of Ashfield Township
on Sunday afternoon, August
28. Four generations of
Drennans and some 65
families had a fantastic af-
ternoon visiting and getting
acquainted with each other.
Each family brought enough
food for their own family
which was served

The Clinton Kinsmen and
racing secretary Billie Hunt
have lined up one of the best
racing -cards so far this year
for the Clinton Raceway this
Sunday, and are hoping that a
number of records will be
broken.

Memorial Trot for a purse of
$2,000 that will bring together
seven of the best local trot-
ters.
The race is in memory of
the late Medie Elliott of
Clinton, whose well-known
trotter Dapper Dillion,
brought fame and fortune to
the local area when he
finished second in the
International Trot in New
York earlier this summer,
against some of the best
trotters in the world.
Dapper, who was bred and
raised by Medie's husband,
George F. (Trucker) Elliott
of Clinton, will also be on
hand for parade mile during
the races. The horse has
made over $100,000 this year.
Another feature of the
program will be the 54,500
added Ontario Harness
Horsemen's Association
stake for four-year-old
pacers.
This leg is the one to be
raced in Goderich, but that
track .was closed when their
grandstand was condemned
in March.
A new track record was set
in Clinton earlier this sum-
mer in the same stake when
Scarlet Son toured the mile in
2:02.3 on July 3. Scarlet Son
along with several other fast
horses will be back.
Among the trotters ex-
pected to face the gate in the
Memorial trot are Brent
Riddell, Lady Demon,
Burbank Hanover, High
Lightning, Wish Me Luck,
Canny Devil, and Honest Mir.

Club went by bus on Monday,
August 29 to the Canadian
National Exhibition in
Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Moran
visited recently with Mr. and
Mrs. Michael Lajeunesse at
Sudbury. Their grandson
Jason returned home with
them for a few weeks
holidays.
