Ziebart Rustproofers came
up with two runs in the fifth to
break a five run tie and edge
Canada Company 7-5 in the
first of their three game set
with the Company in
Industrial league playoffs
recently. The Rustproofers .,
shutout the Company 5-0 in
the second game to win a
berth in the Maitland division
championship against Fisher
Custom Builders.
Canada Company posted
two runs in the first inning to
take an early lead in the first
game. Pat Conlon waited out
a lead off walk and Glen
Tigert snapped a two out
homer to. give his club the
lead.
The Rustproofers wiped out
that lead in their half of the
first with a three run rally.
Tom Love drew a walk to
start it off and raced home on
an error on dreg Hansen's hit
after Ron Whetstone had
walked. Whetstone got caught
at the plate on a fielder's
choice to Rick Duckworth but
Arnie Parker and Ray
Volland each grabbed walks
to score two runs.
Mike Palmer waited out a
walk in the second, stole
second and scored on a double
by Conlon making it 3-3. Mike
Wildgen broke that tie in the
top of the fourth when he
walked, stole second and
raced home on Tigert's
single.
Ziebart tied it again in the
fourth and then moved to a
one run -lead. Love stepped
into a solo round tripper for
the ,tying run and Hansen
chipped a single and. scored
on Langlois' two bagger.
Glen Tigert made it even in
the top of the fifth when he
walked, moved into scoring
position on a wild pitch and
scored on a single by Palmer.
The Rustproofers replied
with two more in the bottom,
of the inning which proved to
be the winning rally. Volland
started off with a single and
moved to second on a wild'
pitch. Whetstone hit into an
error that scored Volland and
Hansen .singled but , Whet-
stone was caught at the plate
-'for the second time in the
game. Langlois and
Corriveau grabbed a pair of
fielder's choices to move
Hansen to third and, he stole
home with the insurance run.
Langlois got the win giving
up six hits and fanning 11
hitters while loser Tigert
gave up seven hits and struck
out three.
Ziebart closed the door in
the second game of the set
shutting out the Company 5-0.
Tom Love grabbed the
winning run in the top of the
first when he singled stole
sectfndo moved to third' on
Whetstones single and
scored on a wild pitch.
Whetstone made it 2-0 when
he stole second, went to third
on a wild pitch and scored on
a sacrifice by Langlois:
Al Sygrove chipped a one
out single in the 'fourth and
moved to third on Wally
Pierson's single. He went
home with the third run on a
Company error. Tom Love
started the fifth with a solo
homerun and Whetstone -
waited out a walk, to keep
things hopping. Corriveau
sacrificed Whetstone to
second, he went to third on a
wild pitch and scored the final
run of the game on Langlois'
single.
Larlglois gave up five hits in
the second game striking out
six for the win while Tigert
was touched nine times in the
loss and struck out five.

Moto -cross final
set for weekend
The final event in the Good
Time Motocross Series blasts
off this Sunday at Hully
Gully, near Varna.
Individuals and teams.have
fought hard throughout the
series and with the final
"battle beginning at 11 a.m.
Sunday's thrilling race action
will decide the victors and
award winners.
The team competition will
find Sarnia and Burlington
driving, hard to catch Team
London who currently holds a
25 point lead for the Cup.
Stapletons place first
Eight tables were in play in
the Legion Hall on Tuesday
night , when the Goderich
Bridge Club met.
Doctor and Mrs. M.
Stapleton captured top spot in
the North-South section of
play with 99 points. Second
place went to Aelian
Weerasooriya and Harold
Montgomery with 95 points.
Verna Worthy and Mary
Lapaine placed third with 93
points. Fourth place was won
by Mary Donnelly and
Eleanor Erskine with 87
points.
In the East-West section 9f
play Lee Ryan and Joanne
Duckworth placed first with
102 points. Mary Wilkinson
and Dorothy Etue captured
second place with 971/2 points.
Third prace was won by Jean
Papernick and Auleen Curry
with 92 points and fourth
place went to Pat Stringer
and Cathy McDonald with
881/2 points.
