(staff photo) Radio system sought Clinton will seek to have a county -wide police radio dispatch system located in Clinton,. deputy -reeve Frank Cook revealed at a meeting of Clinton council last Thursday night. • Deputy Reeve Cook who is head of the town's police committee, said his com- mittee had drawn up a proposal along - with plans, that 'would be given to the other four towns prior to a county -wide meeting set for September 14 at McKay Hall in Goderich. Cook said he couldn't release' any more details of the plan to the press until the other towns had seen the proposal, and discussed it at the meeting. Earlier this summer, the Goderich Police Commission had initiated a meeting between chiefs of the five Huron County towns - Clinton, Seaforth, Wingham, Goderich and Exeter, about setting up a central dispatch radio system for use by all the towns, and had suggested locating it in Goderich. But several other towns, including Exeter and Clinton, had expressbd interest in a more central location, such as Clinton. The mid-September meeting is open to all the elected officials from the five „ towns. "I hope the whole (Clinton) council will be there .to back us up," Cook said. Currently, each police force has its own dispatcher, and the Ontario Police Com- mission said three years ago that the system was inadequate. Police report charges Six Goderich juveniles have been charged with a total of 25 -charges under the juvenile Delinquent Act in connection with a rash of thefts in town during the past month. The five boys and one girl, either individually or collectively, face 11• charges ,of break and enter, 11 charges of mischief causing damage over $50, two charges of theft and one of break, enter and theft. Charges of break, enter and theft and break and enter resulted from incidents at the Windsor Salt Company, the Ministry of Transportation License Bureau and the Suncoast Mall. (photo by Wilma Oke) New Ford office in region Responding to the rapid growth of the automobile market in Ontario, Ford of Canada today announced the establishment of a new regional office to administer sales- and service operations at 143 Ford and Mercury dealerships in the Niagara Peninsula, southwestern and northern Ontario. Goderich is included in the area ser,ed , by the new region, to be known as the Great Lakes region. H. R. Boyd, who has been appointed regional manager, said 'an indication of the market growth in Ontario is the 23 per cent sales increase recorded by Ford of Canada dealers to date this year. - - "Establishment of the new, regional office enables us to• better serve our dealers, and through them the general public, in the vehicle sales, and parts`and service aspects .. of the automobile business," Mr. Boyd said. "This action will also strenghten our market position in Ontario." Most dealer points in Ontario had previously been administered from the Central region office located in Brampton. Under the new arrangement, Central Region will 'service dealers in'Metro Toronto and suburbs and the eastern part of the province, including Ottawa. Other areas of Ontario will be included in the new Great Lakes region, which will be located in the Reimer Phase 111 complex in Burlington. Mr. Boyd said the new regional office will have a staff of 55 persons, most of whom had previously worked at other regions. The new region brings to seven th, number of regional sales an service offices seri /in across Canada. h A resident of Burlington', Mr. Boyd joined Ford of Canada in 1954. He was previously manager of the company's Western region, based i. -i Edmonton, and manager, programming and distribution, at the com- pany's Oakville headquar- ters. Paul P. Pandos, formerly general field manager in Western region, has been appointed assistant regional manager of the new region.
