Bantams grab four by default BY JIM KINGSLEY The Goderich Bantams got off easy last week picking up .four points by forfeit from Sarnia which couldn't field a team. This gives the Bantams .third place in the final _ _standings. They:: go- n to '.,ay,, -first place Seaforth in semi-finals. Should they win they would go on to meet a Sarnia team in the finals. We have Lots of good news to report from our Pee Wee Division. First of all in regular season play Goderich took nine players to Seaforth and even though short two men, gave the game that extra hustle to come up with a 5-3 win., Mike Wedlock not- ched three goals in the game which at one time was tied up at 2-2. The Huron County Pee Wee All-Star team remained undefeated this -week as they held St. Thomas off to a 4-4 tie at half time. In the second half our boys turned on the steam and rolled on to an 8-4 victory! On Sunday the team travelled to Cambridge to meet Cambridge. Cambridge jumped to an early 2-0 lead. Our boys then got the ball rolling and scored seven unanswered goals to win 7-2! The goal scorers in this game were Mike flock, Chuck Wise, Tony Gibbon from Clinton and Nick from Grand Bend with two. Kevin Cowen from St.. Columban provided us with an extremely strong left-wing and scored two goals. With the overpowering Kevin Cowen on left: wing our strong wings have been splitting up the opponent's defense leaving the centre wide open for our ever alert centre field. The Huron County All-Star team displayed excellent midfield ball control showing great defensive and offensive play. The All-Star team in the three qualifying games now' have built up an 'impressive goal spread of 30 goals for to seven- against! even'againstF .'14Se'devieti'" 'e -their-reguiax game through default. However we have eight boys on the All-Star team which competed in Cambridge for the Border Cup. Last week our boys overpowered Petrolia 8-1. Unfortunately this week they found .the competition from the bigger cities just a little too strong. However, our boys puts up a good fight and made a strong showing in their 4-2 loss to Sarnia and a 3-0 loss to Cambridge. The eight Goderich players on this team are: Jim Bissett, Mark Crawford, John Thompson, Darryl Madge, Joe Milady, David More, Ken Goddard and Philip Grace. The Goderich Atom A had a bye last week. In Squirt action Clinton handed Goderich a 3-0 defeat. One of the goals was on a penalty shot. Goderich showed their usual good defensive play but just hasn't been able to put together a strong forward line.
