for sure who anyone really is.
Mary Charlotte Wilcox was
great as Penelope. Wilcox
was so at home in the role and
on the stage the audience was
simply captivated by her. She
delivered her lines smoothly
and clearly, yet so naturally
they seemed to be her own
spontaneous reactions. She is
certainly pretty enough to
carry the part with ease, yet
she also maintains a split-
second timing sense which is
so important to her role.
Tom Butler as Winton who
played much of the time
directly opposite Wilcox was
excellent as the innocent
bystander drawn unwillingly
into a set of circumstances
for which he could be shot - or
at least lose his next leave.
Butler is a master of
manouvers and whether he's
being pushed off a seat or
having his foot stomped, it is•
always with precise timing
and convincing surprise.
Another bouquet goes out to
Jeannette Lambermont who
plays Ida, the Toop "'maid.
Lambermont was in last
week's show, George
Washington Slept Her, and
really' didn't impress the
audience in that run. But this
week, Lambermont obviously
has a role which suits her
special -abilities - and she
excells as the brassy maid
who is always on the side of
romance and good times.
Stanley Coles as the Rev.
Lionel Toop was suitably
proper as the iinexperienced.
vicar who wanted everything
to be perfect in his little
church; Jay MacDonald was
just stuffy enough to play the
part of the Bishop of Lax;
Norman Broomfield' as the
gentile little Rev. Arthur
Humphrey was a scream as'
he was pushed from
catastrophe to catastrophe;
and Brian Parker as the spy
stole the show with his shifty
eyes and his emotionless
face.
Joan Hanna never lets
Playhouse audiences down,
and as Miss Skillon, the
disciplined spinster in her
black oxfords and mannish
hat, she had the audience in
stitches when she became
drunk on the vicarage sofa
and had to be subdued in a
closet so the bishop wouldn't
see her.

prior to their being
recognized as a health

Mirex was discovered in
fish and sediments of Lake
Ontario in 1975. The U.S.
manufacturer has stopped
'discharges of mirex into Lake
Ontario, although minor
contamination may still
occur from drainage systems
saturated with mirex in the
past. No traces of mirex have
been foundin water,
sediments or fish near the two
Ontario plants which used
mirex until 1970 to make
plastic parts and sealants.
Use of the pesticide DDT
has been restricted since
1970. Its presence is still
detectable in fish in those
areas of Ontario where large
amounts were applied. The
concentration of DDT in the
environment has been
declining since its use was
stopped.
Not all lakes in Ontario are
included in the Government's
monitoring program, nor
have all species of fish been
covered. It is the intention to
expand this information in
the future by including data
from the International Joint
Commission Upper Great
Lakes Reference Program,
Environment Canada.
Fisheries and Marine Service
inspection programs, ongoing
Ontario monitoring programs,
and from other•agencies.
Robert Parson as Sergeant
Towers had a small part in
relation to the total
production, but he made his'
appearance on stage count
with the audience. They loved
him as he tried to get to the
bottom of the tangle which
was shielding the spy and
holding the Toop house is
turmoil.
See How They Run,
directed by James Murphy,
will play until Saturday
evening. If you like to laugh

will be just right for you.
