Ladies mark your calendar for one of the special events of the year, Colborne Town- ship's 12th annual Christmas Countr Fair on Wednesday, October 12 and Saturday October 15, Further par- ticulars will be in this column later. Colborne corner Gertrude Kaitting, correspondent, 524-2076 Gordon Pollock, RR 5, at Saltford Valley Hall Saturday evening August 13 honoring them on their '35th wedding anniversary. It was 35 years ago, August 6, 1942; that Barbara Gilders of Goderich and Gordon Pollock of Sheppardton were married in Galt. They lived in Galt for a short time. where Mr. Pollock was employed, but World War 2 was calling the men into service and Gordon was soon •a member of the Armed Forces and stationed at various places such as Camp Borden and Petawawa. When the war was over and Mr. Pollock received his discharge. they came back to their home community to live and far- med near the Nile: Later, in the year 1966, they purchased a home at Dunlop Corner where they now reside. They have six children who with their families, made this anniversary celebration possible. Three of the children are married, a daughter, Mrs. Terry Maize -of Woodstock, -another daughter, Mrs. Jim Hoy of Clinton, and a son, Mr. William Pollock of Goderich. A son . Bob and daughters Brenda and Bonita are at home. The open reception at Saltford Valley Hall was from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. with •dancing enjoyed by all to music supplied by Southern Comfort . Mr. and Mrs. Pollock, besides the congratulations and best wishes, received many lovely gifts including a beautiful china tea set with- trillium pattern, jewellery, miscellaneous gifts and money all which they prize highly. Mr. and Mrs. G. Pollock, your neighbors and friends in Colborne join in extending best wishes for many more years of hap- piness. Whitely of Members of Tiger Dunlop Women's Institute please note that the August meeting will be in Colborne Township Hall on Thursday evening, August 25 at 8:00 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. George McBride will show slides on their recent bus trips. Everybody is welcome. SOCIAL NEWS Mr. and Mrs, Graham (Pat)Whitely have returned home from a much ap- preciated motor trip West as far as Banff and Jasper. They motored Trans Canada as far as Winnipeg and then took other routes to mainly see the farming country and visited friends and relatives along the way mainly in Prince VC, at District news Visit United States Worship. Bridal Shower A delightful shower was held' at the home of Mrs. Ray Cox for Wilma Wubs, a bride- to-be in September. Thirty-two guests enjoyed playing a game led by Mrs. Pat Hemingway which was in the form of amusing ad- dresses. The groom's mother, Mrs, Riehl and Mrs. Wubs were in attendance. Wilma was assisted by her two sisters Cathy and Irene and the groom's sister Brenda to open her gifts. The bride thanked everyone for coming and for the lovely gifts she received. Lunch was then served by the hostess and assisted by Anne Brand, Barb Betties and Isobel Harris. A social time was had by all present. Nile U.C.W. finalize plans for bazaar A short business meeting of the Nile. U.C.W. was held on August 11 at 8:30 p.m. at the Church, to finalize plans for the annual bazaar and tea to beheld August 24 at 2 p.m. Included will be homemade baking, hand made articles, garden produce and a flea market. The official board are'• planning an auction -sale. in September. Proceeds are for the church. Any donations will be gratefully accepted.
