Goderich sailor Ken Dawson in his boat Satin Doll finished fourth in last weekend's Abbott
22 Sailing Regatta in Goderich. The regatta was a two day four race event and featured
boats from Port Stanley, Sarnia and Bayfield plus seven local boats.

Lakeport Steelers got good-,

as they stretched them into'; ''
nine runs for a 9 - 3 win in
Industrial league play.
The Steelers combined
walks and errors with two
timely home runs by Ron, .'`
Miller and Wayne Draper to .;
hand Little Bowl their second
loss of the week.
Glen Falkiner gave Little
Bowl a one -run lead in the
first inning scoring on a
series of errors. The Bowlers
added to that lead on .a two-
run triple by Dave Patterson
in the top of the thud inning. These three sailboats with their spinnakers flying high head

a shoddy Little Bowl defence •
" took over the game. Little
Bowl gave up two runs in the
•fourth inning onthree errors
and a walk, and Draper
capped the rally with a three -
run homer to give Lakeport a
7 - 3lead.
Miller nailed his 10th home •
run of the year in the bottom
of the sixth with team-mate
Mike Petrie aboard.
Draper was responsible for
most of the scoring as he had
two hits in four trips to the
plate, scored two runs and
drove in four. Bill Black had
two hits for Little Bowl and
also scored a run.
Brian McKenzie went the
distance for :Lakeport givy"g
up six hits 'and `fanning five.

Association ' in co-operation
with the Clinton Kinsmen will
hold Goderich Day at the
Clinton Racetrack Sunday,
August 14. '
The day's events are to pay
tribute to the horsemen and
the dedicated members of the
Goderich Association who
have worked hard to foster
the sport of harness' racing in
the area.
Mrs. Rita Parsons has
offered to co-sponsor the Alex
Parsons Memorial Pace. The
event will be held in Clinton
and will bean Invitation Pace
for a purse of $2,000.
The card will also feature a
drivers'contest and a number

tentative list of drivers in-
cluded Brent Davies, Ron
Feagan (a native of
Goderich), Carman Hie, Tom
Strauss, Larry Walker, Dave
Wall and Ron Waples.
Several area businesses
have donated blanket prizes
for the event and the Town of
Goderich will award special
Jubilee 3 prizes to the drivers.

Association was unable to use
the track facilities,in
