The wedding - dinner was in the Sunday School rooms of the church and an open reception was held in Lucknow arena on Saturday night. ' Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Ken Thomas (nee Lois Webster). of Bolton on the birth of a baby daughter, Jennifer Kathleen, on Friday, July 15 at North York General Glenda Park for a day or so during the week. Mr. and. Mrs. John Park visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Begley and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kettle near Leamington. Glenda .Park visited her friend, Susan Dauphin 'in Chatham while her parents were visiting ` near Leamington. Mrs. Geordie 'Rivett_ of Clinton visited Mr. and Mrs. Goldie Carter on the weekend. Sympathy is extended to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Campbell of Belfast whose little daughter Krista Lynn, age 3, was drowned on Sunday evening. Mr. Cam- pbell is a brother of Mrs. Bill Stewart. AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY The Dungannon Agricultural Society held its July meeting' on Wednesday, July 27. Last minute details concerning the Ball Tour- nament were discussed. Arrangements were made to have Rod MacKenzie pur- chase 75 stacking chairs for the society. Thomas of Toronto. Welcome to 'Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Kay and daughter who moved from Goderichto their newly purchased home on the 4th concession in Dungannon, the house formerly owned by and recently vacated by Pat and Jan Brouillette who moved to Tweed. Welcome to Mr, and Mrs. R. MacAulay' and three children who moved from Goderich into the house formerly owned by Mrs. Gladys Rivett and which MacAulays bought from Mr. Herrod of Toronto. Visitors on Wednesday with Mrs. Cecil Blake were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Dickson of Atwood and his sisters, . Misses"' Margaret and Ella Dickson, also of Atwood. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Blake, Becky and Kara of Cambridge visited on the weekend. Mrs: Cecil Blake went to Wingham on Monday to be with her sister-in-law Mrs. Dick Kilpatrick and Mrs. Atkinson while, Dick,- who was taken ill Monday mor- ning, is in Wingham hospital Mrs. Ross McNee' was taken to Wingham hospital on Saturday morning suffering from shortness of breath caused by asthma. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Rudow (nee Bertha Jones) of Elmira called on Mrs. Minnie Jones and Mel on Monday. Visitors with Mrs. Mary Bere were Mrs. Jean Carruthers, Julia and Andrew of Goderich; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Austin of Toronto; Mrs, Marybelle Aldham, Johnny, Greg and Larissa of Goderich; Mr. and Mrs. John Bere, Karen and David of London, the last two - remaining with their gran- dmother for the week. Karen Bere, London vitited Rev. C. G. Westhaver spoke on "This Beginning of Miracles" from John 2:11 at Sunday morning service in Dungannon United Church. There will be no U.C.W. meeting in, August. U.C.W. visitors for the month of August are Helen Stothers, Flossie Ivers, Amy Wiggins, Evelyn Errington. Please let them know if you know of anyone who is ill or shut-in. The minister will be on vacation for four weeks in. ,,August and will return to regular duty ' on Tuesday, August 30. Dungannon and Nile churches will be closed for the four Sundays.• _In the -event-est'a "pastoral` emergency, Rev. Albert Cook of RR2 Lucknow may be contacted (phone 528;2210). After August 15, try 'the manse first since the minister will be close to home during the las( two weeks. Regular Sunday services will resume on September 4. It is hoped many children will take the opportunity to attend Bible Vacation School August 1-5. Mr. Howard Martin, as leader opened the Sunday morning service at Dungannon Christian Fellowship Church. The scripture lesson Psalm 121, was read by Mike Frey. Mr. Cleason Martin delivered the address. The Sunday evening Drive- in Service was well attended. Pastor Doug Zehr opened the meeting and introduced the speaker, Rev. Nelson Martin of St. Agathe. Music was provided by the group called The Ray of Truth of Elmira. The Vacation Bible School is in progress this week August 1-5, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Kindergarten to grade 2 meet in United Church, grade 3-8 in Christian Fellowship Church. Come for all week or for a day or two. istrict news • Steffler visit This is holiday time, the time of year when friends on holidays drop in for a visit. Last week Clem and Phyllis Steffler and children, for- merly of Colborne township and now living in Whitelaw, Alberta, called in to say hello and report they are really liking their new found home, so much so that they sold their farm and have pur- chased a larger farm, which is two miles north of Peace River. They are in the process of building a new home. They have had a good year. Clem is teaching school and Phyllis is nursing in the nursing home nearby. The children like it ;nil they have found the hospility of the people really something. It was a pleasant holiday to get down here and visit their friends and relatives but they are looking forward and eager to get back home to Alberta. They couldn't get to visit everyone and this is a way they feel they are saying hello to all the friends they missed. The sympathy of the community is extended to the family of the late M1;s. James Ruddock. MEMORIAL SERVICE Sunday morning and on till 2:30 p.m. many people were seen wending their way among the tombstones in Colborne Cemetery to place flowers on the graves of loved ones and 'friends for the Memorial Service. Just at the time of gathering for the service a heavy rain storm broke and the service was moved to Benmiller United Church. Reeve Doug McNeil welcomed those who had gathered in the church. Rev. John Wood, minister of Benmiller United Church gave an appropriate sermon and the McMillan family provided splendid music. FAREWELL PARTY On Saturday evening, July 23, 32 friends and neighbors of Bill- and Mavis Fisher gathered at the home of Bernard, and Bernice 'Fisher assisted by Larry and Anna May Fisher, to observe a farewell party. During the first part of the evening all enjoyed playing contests and a friendly get-together. Jud Milburn then ' wished the couple, Bill and Mavis, much happiness in their new home which will be on Picton Street in Goderich, and presented them.with a clock on behalf of the neighbors and friends.
