The choir at James St. Churcl
gave a pleasing song service on Sab
bath evening last under the leader-
ship of Prof. A. W. Anderton, the
new organist and leader, who re•
cently arrived from Lisburn, Ire-
land. The choir has beets augniente
by several vocalists of talent an
the rendering of the different num
bers on Sabbath evening very pleas
ingly, compelled the attention of th
large congregation present. Thre
anthems were sung by the choir
viz.: "Rend Your Hearts," "Sen
Out Thy Light," and "Glorious I
Thy Name." Mrs. G. Williams san
"The Better Land" in a manner tha
was pleasing to the audience.

was sung by Miss Snell, Miss Pa
sons, W. D. Sanders and S. Marti,
The service was particularly a M
thers' Day service and the playing o
"The Dead March in Saul" by Pro
Anderton in honor of the departet
mothers gripped the audience wit
intense feeling. The opening volun
taries and the collection voluntar,
by the organist were expressivel
brought out. The, new leader ha
made a good impression on th
music lovers of Exeter.
The pastor, Rev. M. J. Wilson
took for his subject: "Two Pegs i,
Memory's Wardrohe." First-"Whh
should we honor our mothers? an
second -"How should we honor our
mothers? Three garments were hung
on the "why" peg. We should love
our smothers because of her love; be-
cause of her prayers, and because
it spells success. How? By- apprecia-
tion and reverence.
