wrote down his bar -licence
number. Was I ever getting
excited,
I nonchantly went into the
- mall nearthe A affd P store
and met a couple of fellows
from that store. They hadn't
even heard the bell - and
"anyway those alarms are
set off very easily" - so that
settled that little episode.
Someday someone like me

just because they are con-

Well, that was my first
disappointment of the day.
Later, one of the girls at the
Signal said young Paul
Wilson was home - and I
haven't seen Paul more than
once or twice since he left
here eleven years ago.
Paul, son of that upright
citizen Bill Wilson who had
the French Dry Cleaning shop
for a great many years, is a
doctor now in Vancouver, is
married and has two
daughters. He was unable to
get home in time for the
Jubilee 3 Celebrations but is
trying to see as many of his
Old friends as he possibly can
in the short time he is here.
Paul, thru the
foresightedness of Dr. Ken
Lambert and the teasing of
Doc Jackson, realized this
had to be his life work. Good
going, Paul.
So, that was my second
disappointment -of the day -
Paul was visiting our nice
hospital and seeing old
friends there, when I stopped
to see him. I'll catch up with
him before he leaves --- I
hope.
There will be lots of
bustling in the Courthouse
Park starting Wednesday - as
you probably noticed -
readying things for the
Pe3-titaI of the Arts - and
Crafts and the Carnival
games, fun, sidewalk shop-
ping and many interesting
things for Thursday, Friday
and Saturday THIS week.
Martha Rathburn appears
weekly In The Signal -Star.
Come and spend a few
leisure hours. For goodness
sakes, den't try to tack your
visit onto the end of a shop-
ping trip. You need time to
lo9k at the fine work of a
great number of dedicated
craftspeople.
Make' sure you set asfile
TIME for this nice show, keep
in mind this is the time to buy
those special gifts for those
"hard to shop for" people.
Crafts and paintings are
gifts or acquisitions for your
home that take thought and
care in buying. You may have
to go back a couple of times to
make up your mind - or go sit
in the Legion Ladies' "Tea
Room" for a while, before
you realize you are making a
real good buy.
Just hope the piece you had
in mind is still there when you
go ba9k.
There will be specialists
with painting on china, ex-
perts with fine pottery;
beautiful jewellry; copper
enamelling that un-
believable; some very fine
paintings and so many other
interesting crafts, •you must
see for yourself to appreciate
them. The home crafts - a
great variety- will probably
be a lot cheaper, now, than at
Christmas time.
Sugar Shack is here, too-
- These people have worked
for months lb show you their
best, so do tell them so if you
like their work. They are all
nice people and we want them
to come back again.
With all the centennials and
art shows happ,ening all
around the- prbvinee; we have
lost many of our regular
visiting artists this year tho,
they assure us they will be
back again, another year, so
