At the. Council meeting held on
Monday i was arranged that our Ath-
letic Field be .deeded to the Mun e-
itiality. and thatta board of seven &r-
ectors be apnointed to r::gulate the
management of the field. Two of the
members are selected from the Coun-
cil and the five from local organ^,a-
tions which have ,an interest in the
.field. The prowerty s•ost $850. This
has now been .paid by the funds on
hand in the. Treasury of the Iota: Red
Cross Society and ,the Athletic As-
aociation. Things are moving nicely
for err celebration on the 3rd of June.
The Women's Institute will have
charge of the concert in the evening

thcy undertake will be carried out to
a sue:essful ending. The baseball
team _.> being organized and negotia-
tions ere under way to join a league
of whi.o more particulars will be giv-

ABOLITION OF STATUTE LABOR
In order to obtain the Government

roads, many township councils are at
present considering the abolition of
'statute labor, and instead collect taxes
