The OHA members alga visited the Bluewater Centre for -the Developmentally Handicapped on Wednesday, July 6. In all they visited 20 hospitals in five days. President of the OHA is John ' W. Ostler former Chairman of the Board of the Milton District Hospital. He was accompanied on the tour by OHA staff members R. Alan Hay, executive director, John R. Haslehurst, associate executive director (OHA Services) and George I. Campbell, associate executive director (Hospital Employee Relations Ser- vices). WATER ELEVATOR . The Brian Ainslie castle at 92 St. George's Crescent was viewed only on the outside during the later tour. The castle was built about 18(',3 by Henry McDermott who had come to Goderich to run -the salt company. It was to be a copy of the family castle in Ir -eland but McDermott ran out of money f. Hanly, Goderich. before completing the castle tower. - The house was unoccupied from 1889-1902 when it was bought by Malcolm Cameron's widow. Mrs, Cameron added a third floor and installed a water powered elevator in the tower. The castle has gone through many changes. Originally the castle property extended right out to the corner of Waterloo Street. When the tour ended, most people on the tour expressed gratitude to those who had opened up their homes and shared some historic insight in a gracious manner. The final day of the Senior Citizens Week of activities included an afternoon of table games sponsored by the Seaforth Seniors. Prize winners for the highest euchre scores were Pearl Gidley and Louis Wild. The eldest resident playing cards was Mrs. Elizabeth Scott. The Brussels United Church Women entertained on Monday afternoon with a variety program. There were vocal solos and quartette numbers, step dancing and square dancing. Following the program bags of treats were given to each of the residents. The Goderich Laketown Band played for a concert on the fawn on Family Night. The thirty -member band is led by Miss Storey with musicians from Goderich, Clinton, Holmesville and Bayfield. The " Bob Heywood Orchestra of Exeter en- tertained on Tuesday evening with a program of favorite songs. The orchestra includes Bob Heywood, accordion; Calvin Horner, guitar; and Jeff Rooth, drums. The— 'programs outdoors provide an opportunity for'all of the residents to hear the music from the west windows of the Horne or from the chairs on the lawn.
