Police report
The Goderich Police
Department reported six
accidents in town during the
past week despite a heavier
than normal traffic frow
through the town. Three of
the accidents resulted in
major damage.estimates. •
A two -car collision at in-
tersection of Elgin Avenue
. and South Street July , 7
resulted in a total damage
estimate of $3,800 to vehicles
driven by Reanne Weima,
R.R. 1 Dungannon and
Gaetan Jacques, R.R. .2
Goderich.
Damage to the Weima
vehicle was estimated at
$1,800 and $2,000 to the
Jacques'vehicle. Mrs. Wiema
and her daughter etndy were
treated for minor injuries.
A single vehicle accident
July 8 near the intersection of
Cambria 'Road and Trafalgar
Street resulted in $5,000
damage to a vehicle driven by
Jeffrey Ambrey, 10 Quail
Valley Dr..Thornhill.
Ambrey was following a
vehicle driven by Melvin
McArter on Cambria Road
'and attempted to overtake
the vehicle just as McArter
pi'oceeded to make a left turn
onto Trafalgar Street.
Ambrey swerved to miss the
vehicle and struck a tree.
Police estimated damage
at $1,000 to a boat owned by
Alexander Pringle, 56
Downsview Ave., Downsview
after he attempted to pull his
boat out of the water and the
mast struck hydro lines. The
accident occurred on July 10
and no injuries resulted
During the week the police
laid 20 charges under the
Highway Traffic Act, six
under the Liquor Licence Act,
one under the Narcotics
Control Act and one under the
Criminal Code of Cahada.
