Police Report
Despite the unusually
heavy flow of traffic in and
around Goderich during the
past week the Goderich police
department reported only
eight accidents six of which
- resulted in major damage
-estimates.
A two -car collision in-
volving --a -parked yeiti8e-on-
Trafalgar Street Julr 1
resulted in a total damage
estimate of $5,200 to a vehicle
driven by Mike Burley, 103
Bruce •St. Goderieh and the
parked vehicle owned by
Mary Chalifoux, R.R. 1.
Chatham.
Damage to the Burley
vehicle was estimated at
$2,400 and $2,800 to the
Chalifoux vehicle. There
were no injuries.
A two -car collision on The
Square July 1 resulted in $600
damage to vehicles driven by ,
James Horton, 168 Nelson St
Goderich and Vaughan
164- Ergin -Aieribe
Goderich. There were no
injuries,
•A second collision on the
Square July .1 resulted in a
total damage estimate of
$3,000 to a vehicle diven by
George Barwick, 150 Keays,
Goderich hnd a parked
ehicle owned by John
Pliniussen, 52 Langarth St.
London. There were no in-
uries.
A three -car collision at the
intersection of Nelson .and
Victoria Streets July 2
resulted `in $1050 damage to
three ,,vehicles and three
people were treated for minor
injuries.
The drivers of the vehicles
were •Eva Sneider, 744
Copland Rd. Sarnia, Arthur
Fobel, 74 Westwood, Cr.
Kitchener and Elsie Keyes,
285 Lakeside Dr. Goderich.
A two -car collision at the
intersection of Victoria Street
and. Britannia Road July 3
resulted in total damage
estimate 'of $500 to vehicles
driven by Myrtle Monroe,
Auburn and Charles Coutts,
4401 Petrolia Petrolia.
Damage to the Monroe
vehicle was estimated at $150
and $350 to the Coutts vehicle.
There were no injuries.
During the week the police
laid 17 charges under the
Criminal'Code of Canada, 10
under the Liquor Licence Act,,
ix under the Juvenile
Delinquent Act, 22 under the
Highway'Traffic Act -and two
under the Motorized vehicle
Accident Claims Act.• .

ineans-that there is no money
available for such basics as
telephone, postage stamp,

unreasonable to expect the
student under such conditions
to provide even minimal
service to people in need.
Obviously the bureau cannot
meet or, expand its original
obligations.
It takes time to develop any
Viable community service.
and to establish community
awareness of it. Six months is
not long enough. and the
bureau in its present- state,
cannot possibly demonstrate
its effectiveness:
In studies done in 1972 and
•1976, a volunteer bureau Was
recommended for iltiron
County. Certainly the heed is
there - and greater than yet
known - but thine persons and
groups who recommend a
