Spectators are advised to get their places early on the parade route which is from Maple Street at Hur Road; along Huron Road to`TKIngston Street and onto The Square; around The'Square and down South Street to Blake Street; along Blake Street, up McDonald Street . and into Agriculture Park at the horse barns; around the race track at the park; and ex iting•on the South side of the park via a gap in the fence onto Blake-. and south onto Eldon Street where it will disperse. The ,parade itself is the lir-gest ever in Goderich, and maybe even the largest in the province. It will contain 23 bands including the Ontario Mass Legion Pipe Band 160 -members long; 2,800 people; and in excess of 410 vehicles arade is representing about 250 separate organizations', some from quite a distance. Nose by tail the parade will be abliut 11,500 feet long and strung out along the routeshould be more than four miles long. It will take from three to three and a half hours to pass any given point, Police Chief Pat King estimates. The chief. says that as of 8 a.m. Saturday morning, abs9lutely no parking will be permitted along the parade route. Parking will be available at Baechler's lumber yard -on Cambria Road; at all schools; at Suncoast Mall; and at'the large field on the south west corner of the 'Suncoast Drive and Bayfield Road intersection. Free bus service will shuttle spectators to the parade route from 9 a.m. onwards on Saturday. "' ``People are well advised to come prepared for a long sit or a long stand," said Chief King. Goderich citizens particularly are urged to assist the traffic problem in Goderich this Saturday by leaving. their cars at home and walking to the parade route or to one4of the bus stops. People participating in thparade are requested to be at the marshafting area at Staffer Pee and Cnmbridge Street early and if, possible, to arrange to have someone drive them there and pick them up afterwards on Blake Street where the parade will disperse. There will be no parking allowed on Eldon Street south of Blake Street or on Suncoast Drive east of Eldon or on Blake Street between Eldon and South so that the participants in the parade can get away easily and prevent the entire parade from being backed up and stopped. Also, those persons who.want to get refresh- ments in for the weekend are advised that from noon on, the parking, lots at the liquor store and Big noise Fireworks Friday 4. The giant fireworks display on the tip of the south pier will begin Friday evening just as soon as the famous Goderich sunset has grown dark. Heading the troop will be Chief Superintendent Hugh A. Feagan, Commanding Officer of the RCMP in Prince Edward Xsland. With him will be Sergeant Jerry W. Anderson, Churchill, Manitoba; Corporal Bryan J. Feagan, Ottawa; Constable John G. Williams, Brandon, Manitoba; and Constable Jim Raeburn, Van- couver. There will be a saluting base at the corner of Montreal Street and The Square. The salute will, • be taken by members of the town council and executive committee of the. Jubilee Th Celebrations.,At this time Mayor Deb Shewfe who will be in the parade, will be represented 'Reeve Bill Clifford. The World War One Vets -of the 161st Batter will have a honored place at the head of parade, reports Chief King. Special guests for the children will be Winn the Pooh and Tigger 'Too,' Mr. Peanut and course, Mickey Mouse all the way - fr Disneyland. - The Carling Champion team and w4gon-will in the parade and on display afterwaids.
