The junior girls got off te, a good start. by defeating Stanley, while the -senior girls played to a tie against Londesboro. The junior boys didn't do so well as the "A" team Jost to Auburn while the "B" team lost to -Varna, Both the senior boys games were rained out and are to be rescheduled. The girls play their games on Tuesday nights and the •boys play on Thursdays. There are extra schedules printed and are -available to interested persons. (staff photo).. ubjlee Three:sailirlgl „ ktInd y In conjunction with the Jubilee Three activities over the past weekend, the Goderich Sailing Club held a series of races, coupled with the Annual -Power Squadron Sail Past on Sunday. Friday's gale force winds prevented a planned show race from taking place, but Ron Lee managed to convince several hardy.souls to ven- ture out in dinghys in_Lbe inner harbour, much to the delight of the many interested spectators. Bundy Last weekend visitors to Goderi, h were treated to a large number of activities at Snug Harbour but the highlight was the annual Sail Past sponsored by the Goderich Power Squadron. Some twenty power and sail hoats took part, each with decorations. pennants and flags flying. The salute was, taken by the commodores of ---tirrct*tcrrvntrol-tlic115ridirti- — Power Squadron. Prizes - were awarded for the best decorated boats, With first prize in the motorboat category going to Dick Atkey of Clinton: first prize in the large sailboat category going toDick Taylor. and First prize in the junior sail boat diY;ion to -his son, Mark Ta, tor. The, power squadron also presented pennants and Jubilee three mugs to all participants. left to celebrate. Friday evening there will be a fifties , party at the Sunset. As there has been every day, there - will be a. happy hour from 1.to 8 p.m.,' so come and take advantage of it. There will be a $50 gift certificate from the Pro Shop 'as a prize for the best fifties costume. It's an open patty - anyone may come and bring a friend. Last week was the first week for Iuniors' Day. Rob MacDonald, Mark Stewart ' prize in that category. Paul Carrol and Ken Dawson ran a close second, however, and received a standing ovation for their superb display of bailing, tipping and generally. splashing around. Saturday's activities'went off on schedule with a cruise race �f keel boats competing for a new trophy deinated by Al Scharlack of Thdaptains Quarters. Eight boats began the raee, from -anchor, with their - sails furled, then weighed anchor at the dun and sailed twice- around a short 3 -mile course. Overall winners- with the best corrected time went to Ralph Smith and his family crew in party and Leroy Meriam were the top three golfers for the day. For Men's Night, low gross was Ste'e Davey. Marcel Richard was low net.- Paul Baechler, •• Bob dreer - and - Dennis Lassaline were whiners' for firstflight. For second flight, the winners were 'Brian Stewart, Bob Botil, Vic Powell, George Williams, Mark Lassaline, Tim O'Brien, Mike Palmer, Dave Graf, Harold McPherson, Paul Corrivean, Brian Reeve. Third flight winners were Bill Vanstone, Gerry Lassaline, Alex Varga, John Browebridge, Gord Govier, Gord Thomas, Dont, Fuller and Cliff Kennedy. Ladies' Night last week ,as golf. followed- by coffe .tand . desserts. Winners .wt,_for the first flight, low gross, Sue MacAdam, •low net, Gerry Mountford; second flight, low gross, Joyce Bolton, low net, Ellen Connelly; third flight, low gross, Edna Powell, low net, ,Darlene Crawford- and Pat Chisholm. The sailors and -their guests, along with visiting boaters were then feted at a barbecue sponsored by the Jubilee Three committee and the Goderich Harbour Com m ission.-latir thanks to 7 these committees, and to the Power squadron and the Marina staff for their help* and , contributions to our __.„.celebra'tions last weekend.
