ILL OP PNEUMONIA.
Mr, George Ford on Friday received
a, telegram from Flirt Mich, that his
son Garnet wits very ill. with pneumon-
ia. Mr. Ford and Ale ‘Thol, ElliottX
left Saturday for that city.
BURNED HOLE IN ROOF.
Fire. partially destroyed the xoof of
Mr. Charles Isaac's .residence on the
3rd concession of Stephen on Thurs-
day afternoon. The chimney got on
fire but was watched carefully, and
burned itself 'oot after a short time.
Mr. Isaac went to work n the back
fields. end Mrs. Isaac went to Cen-
tralia. An hour or two eater aneigh-
bor noticed the roof icn fiire, and it
was soon extinguished, but not before
a large hole. had theca burned through
the roof. Apparently a spark from
the chimney caused the fire

Exeter, on Monday evening. The
work of the First Degree was ex-
emplified by the officers, the candi-
date ,being Rev. Arthur Sinclair of
Centralia. The distinguished visitor
praised [he work of the officers very
highly and spoke interestingly of Ma-
sonry throughout the District At
thc conclusaon of :the ,lodge work at
lunch was s.eeved in the Lodge Room
by Bro. C. L. Wilson, and afterwards
e. lengthy toast list was ,proposed and
responded to, Rt. Wor.; Bro Fraser
other visitors, and local members tak-
ing part. The evening throughout
was a most enjoyable one.

Mr. Thomas Hawkins of Sandwich
was in town a couple ,of days this
week, shaking hands with old friends.
