Alex Raymond Kneeshaw,
the youngest brother, left
school in 1944 to enlist. With
the Royal Hamilton Light
Infantry in Germany, he was
wounded in February, 1945,
and spent some time in
hospital, rejoining his bat-
talion in Holland for the
spring "push." He was in the
Highland Light Ihfantry as a
unit of the occupation troops.
Back home, he attended a
trade school in Hamilton and
became a skilled cabinet-
maker. working with Cliff
Richardson Boat Works.,
Meaford; Glendale Mobile
Homes, London. and
Lockrey's Custom Boats. He
"married Charlotte Wood, of
London and became the
father of twins: Kathryn Ann
and Nancy May. Alex died in
January, 1963.
Allan Kneeshaw, of
Toronto. writes: "1 was born
on St. Patrick street on Dec.
1907, and regret that when
my grandfather, Albert
Kneeshaw, was alive I. did not
pay more attention to the
stories he told us of his early
life in Goderich. With the
death of Isobel Kneeshaw,
wife of the late Albert
Kneeshaw, a cousin of mine, I
understand there are no more
Kneesh4ws in Goderich.
have mny happy memories
of youthful fun in the old
town, and hope to visit
again,"

daughter of the same Albert
Kneeshaw.

Three of the five sons of Albert Kneeshaw (1849-1937) are in
this group of Goderich young men, taken on the Carey
place, St. George's crescent, possibly around 1898 or 1900.
