Those most likely to have been related to him were Crabb Brothers, pencil makers and stationers, 22 Mansell street, Goodman's Fields. Christopher, born in 1814, would have reached his majority and qualified for the Freedom of London in 1835, but by that year he was a resident of Goderich, Upper Canada, Here his patrimony qualified him just the same, and a Huron Signal item of June 30, , 1877, turned up recently, shows that the fact was documented. President Grant, of the United States, had been given the Freedom of London _a few days previously, and the Signal commented: "Our esteemed citizen, C. Crabb. Esq., possesses that honor by virtue of a piece of parchment subscribed by the city Mayor and Chamberlain which designatedhim through his father. Text of the document, which bears the corporation seal, coat of arms and the clerk's initials, J.P.L. is as follows: "Frederick Crabb, son of John Crabb, Cit. and Stationer, of London, was admitted into the Freedom aforesaid and sworn in the mayoralty of Thomas St. Cinnes Esq., and John Wilkes, Esq., Chamberlain, and is entered in the book figured with the letter E relating to the purchase of freedoms and the admission to freedom. Dated 1 Nov. in the 36th year of the reign of King George III and in the year of our Lord 1795."
