Judge Bernard Lewis Doyle Judge Bernard Louis Doyle was Junior Judge of Huron County in 1883, and in 1902 was appointed Senior Judge, a p'bsition he held until retirement in 1916, serving 33 years on the Bench - by far the longest term of any Huron Judge. He was born at Matilda, Dundas County, December 5th, 1840. He graduated from Goderich Grammar School, and became a barrister in 1865. In 1872 he took a part- ner, W.R. Squier, B.A. 'He was a member of the Goderich Collegiate Institute board, entered town council in ,1871; and was mayor of Goderich in 1880481. In 1875 he declined the ` Conservative nomination for South Huron. Judge Doyle was noted for impartiality, fairness, ability Judge B. L. Doyle and judicial discernment. He retired in 1916 and went to Seattle, where, with his son - "A in law; he was interested In a fruit farm; 40 acres. n the Yakima Valley, :Washingtont� 200 miles from Seattle. He married, in 18, Carolyn L.G. Northgreav niece of the Very Rev Dealt: Northgreaves.
