They also presented subject bars to 32 students four` achievement during the year. A film "Forever Young, Forever. Free" sponsored by the Student's Council was enjoyed by all the classes. The Brookside staff party was held, at the Forester's Hall in Benmiller on Friday evening in the form of a steak barbecue followed by sports and dancing. Gifts were inesented to Miss Hortense Happel and Mrs. Dorrie Chisholm, both of whom are taking a year's leave of ab- sence. As• a token of ap- preciation for their super co - Communion was ad- ministered. At the close of the service Mr. K.K. Dawson spoke a few words of regret on Rev. Dobson's leaving and ex- tended best wishes to Rev. and Mrs. Dobson for the future. On behalf of the congregation, Mr. Dawson presented the minister with a gift of money: Rev. Pastor Doug Zehr con- tacted morning worship Service at Dungannon Christian Fellowship Church, taking his text from the first chapter of Colossions. The June meeting was held on June 20 at the home of Mrs. Jean Errington with 19 ladies present. Mrs. • Marjorie Pentland opened with a call to worship, followed by a hymn. The Beatitudes were read • responsively followed by prayer by Mrs. Emily Drennan. A skit "A Dream comes True" about work among the Indians in the North was very inforesatiive. Taking part was Beth McConnell, Marjorie Pentland, Emily Drennan and Gloria Pearson. Collection was received and dedicated by Beth McConnell. Mrs. Tinie Logtenberg took over for the business period. She thanked all for Coming , and the ladies for their worship service, Jean for her home and all who had helped at Martha Eedy's wedding. The minutes were read and adopted. A large bag of articles was received for the bale to Angola. It was decided to -send $25 for a medical student in Nepal asequested by Presbyterial. A pair of flannelette sheets are to be given to the McNall family who lost their home by fire. An invitation was received from Nile to attend their meeting July 14 at 8 p.m, Mrs. Cecil Blake was asked to compose a letter to Harry Boyle regarding language on C.B.C. which all ladies will sign at the next meeting. The Financial Report showed a balance of $802.70 on hand. ' Candles, kerosene lamps and flowers decorated the windows and all seats were marked with white ribbon and flowers. Mrs. Ross Robinson and Mrs. "Kenneth McDougall were at the door and the ushers were Mrs. Brenda (Archambault) Parker and Miss Brenda Ball in bridesmaids gowns. Little misses, Laurie Millian and Rose Marie Young handed out the programs and were gowned in flower -girl dresses. The Mistress of Ceretnonies was Mrs. Brian iiallam (Popp) gowned in her wed- ding dress of . 1957, altered somewhat for variousoc- casions down through the years. To the strains of wedding music played by the church organist, Mrs. Norman Wightman the bridal gowns were modeled. The first four were 1976 wedding dresses modelled by the brides themselves, Mrs. Nancy (Anderson Park, Darlene (Coultes) Empey, Shelley (Grange) Worsell and Doreen (McClinchy) McCullough, a gown worn by her mother Mrs. Harold Mc.Clanchy. Mrs. Hallam remarked on all dresses pointing out the in- teresting details. Moving back to the 1900s, Mrs. E.T. Pfrimmer, , the former Mabel Mohring in 1910 wore aft handmade gown of off - en ng s . eaturang tiny and wide tucks and beige lace trim. Her grandaug�iter, Mrs. Irene Millian ''modelled. this gown, '.Wearing the original -pearl. ' eArlace, set In gold, s whit h ilk f In 1913, Dora Wilson was married in a white em- broidered gown trimmed with rhinestones and pearls with a pink flowered cumberbund and wore her watch and chain. This was modelled by her daughter Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock. Mrs. Mary Lawlor Rollinson was married in 1914 in a gown of ivory em- • broidered net over sheer voile made by Mrs. John Arthur. It had a panel of walking pleats in the front and a satin cumberband adorned with a rose, Anita Hallam showed this dress. Mrs. Fred Stewart Toll was married in 1915 in a gown of cream silk eveline trimmed with satin and lace made by Mrs. Toll herself. Linda Cunningham modelled this dress'. Ila. Cunningham wore the wedding dress of Mabel Erratt Straughan of 1919 which was a taupe\poplin and sashed overblouse with dainty beading in gold and aqua. Mrs. James McDiarmid Aitcheson, Mrs. Kenneth Scott's mother were a gown of cream silk collene and pearl trimming. Tiny pearls outlined the peplum edge, neckline and bodice. Vic chairman Marion -Zinn sold she was pleased at the concern of the board members and pointed out that the exercise proved that "alot of people are interested In the budget", • District news Christian school holds graduation The .15th annual graduation program of the Clinton and District Christian School was held on 'the evening of June 22nd in the Christian Reformed Church. Twenty- four grade eight pupils were honoured - the girls lovely in their long, gowns with cor- sages; the boys handsome in suits with boutonnieres. Mr. Ralph Schuurman, principal, opened the evening with prayer and scripture reading and extended a warm welcome to the full house of parents and friends present. A beautiful programme of reading and song was then presented by the pupils of grades 1-7, entitled "Great is Thy Faithfulness." In this presentation a parallel was drawn of God's faithfulness in the seasons of nature with His faithfulness in the seasons of our lives. Diplomas and Bible han- dbooks were presented to the graduates by the principal, assisted by the vice-principal, Mr. Lawrence Uyl. During this time cameras were busy flashing, as parents and friends captured this special moment en film - a memory forever. In his address to the graduates, Mr. Schuurman encouraged each of them to build the house of their life on the Rock, Jesus Christ, and so fully experience God's faith- fulness in their own lives. Marilyn Baarda, class valedictorian, --Spoke - on behalf of the graduates in appreciation of Christian parents, teachers and school. Apparently, school is not all work, but also fun. Some humorous, classroom in- cidents related by. -Marilyn , and references to their trip to Ottawa in May of this year, proved this point. Every year, the I.O,D.E. of Clinton presents a mint set to the grade eight pupil who improved the most in the subject of history. Mr. A. Luxgendorff presented the set to a surprised pupil Marilyn Baarda. - Mrs. R. Verburg, chairlady of the PTA, presented gifts of appreciation to Miss Cheryl Kemink and Mr. Charles Exel. They are leaving the school and were wished well in their future endeavours. Henry Valkenburg and Mark Damsma then presented Mr. Schuurman with a gift, on behalf of the grade eight pupils. Congratulations and best wishes on behalf of the school board were extended to the graduates by chairman, Mr. Joe Van Dyke. A closing prayer was offered by Mr. Van Dyke, and everyone then enjoyed a social time. Coffee and strawberry shortcake was served by the PTA and wasenjoyed by all. It was worn by Jacalyn Lantinga a niece of Eunice Arthur. Jayne Arthur modelled her matron of honour's dress of deep purple crochet. A man's wedding suit was modelled by Mrs. Cockerline, Mrs. Maurice Bean's mother. She modelled her father's wedding suit of 1891, styled, with a black broadcloth coat and pants of dark green and wine striped with flared legs. Four generations modelled was the grand finale when Ethel Dexter Ball wore her 'grandmother's wedding dress which was worn in 1882. Ethel's aunt, Ellen Stewart Dexter was married in 1910 in a cream shantung and this was worn by Linda Durnin. Brenda Ball modelled (Ethel Dexter Ball), her mother's dress, which she wore in 1946. Arva Ball Machan wore her wedding gown of 1975. A social time was held in the Sunday school room where wedding pictures were on- display. On display down in S.S. room were dresses of Jane Hockney Snell, 1946 and that of Mrs. Will. Taylor, wife of Rev.
