Christian school
holds graduation
The .15th annual graduation
program of the Clinton and
District Christian School was
held on 'the evening of June
22nd in the Christian
Reformed Church. Twenty-
four grade eight pupils were
honoured - the girls lovely in
their long, gowns with cor-
sages; the boys handsome in
suits with boutonnieres.
Mr. Ralph Schuurman,
principal, opened the evening
with prayer and scripture
reading and extended a warm
welcome to the full house of
parents and friends present.
A beautiful programme of
reading and song was then
presented by the pupils of
grades 1-7, entitled "Great is
Thy Faithfulness." In this
presentation a parallel was
drawn of God's faithfulness in
the seasons of nature with His
faithfulness in the seasons of
our lives.
Diplomas and Bible han-
dbooks were presented to the
graduates by the principal,
assisted by the vice-principal,
Mr. Lawrence Uyl. During
this time cameras were busy
flashing, as parents and
friends captured this special
moment en film - a memory
forever.
In his address to the
graduates, Mr. Schuurman
encouraged each of them to
build the house of their life on
the Rock, Jesus Christ, and so
fully experience God's faith-
fulness in their own lives.
Marilyn Baarda, class
valedictorian, --Spoke - on
behalf of the graduates in
appreciation of Christian
parents, teachers and school.
Apparently, school is not all
work, but also fun. Some
humorous, classroom in-
cidents related by. -Marilyn ,
and references to their trip to
Ottawa in May of this year,
proved this point.
Every year, the I.O,D.E. of
Clinton presents a mint set to
the grade eight pupil who
improved the most in the
subject of history. Mr. A.
Luxgendorff presented the
set to a surprised pupil
Marilyn Baarda.
- Mrs. R. Verburg, chairlady
of the PTA, presented gifts of
appreciation to Miss Cheryl
Kemink and Mr. Charles
Exel. They are leaving the
school and were wished well
in their future endeavours.
Henry Valkenburg and
Mark Damsma then
presented Mr. Schuurman
with a gift, on behalf of the
grade eight pupils.
Congratulations and best
wishes on behalf of the school
board were extended to the
graduates by chairman, Mr.
Joe Van Dyke. A closing
prayer was offered by Mr.
Van Dyke, and everyone then
enjoyed a social time.
Coffee and strawberry
shortcake was served by the
PTA and wasenjoyed by all.
It certainly was an evening to
remember.
