Holmesville School held
their graduation ton Friday,
June 24th. The lunch table
nicely decorated with a white
cloth and a bouquet of red
roses, and red candles and
lunch was served by the
ladies of Goderich Township
Women's Institiirte.
Mr. R.G. Reaburn, school
principal,. gave a few words to
the audience and the
graduates, and Mr. Simons
then introduced the guest
speaker Mr. W.D. Kenwell,
Superintendent, Huron
County Board of Education,
spoke to the students and
wished them every success in
their years ahead.

Mrs. Stewarrt with a gift
from the band members. The
school band played several
numbers under the direction
of Mrs. Stewart. Mrs. Stewart
received a standing ovation
for her work and time spent
with the band, as she is no
longer music teacher for the
school. Mrs. Stewart then
thanked the members of the
band, parents and everyone
for their support through the
years.

Mrs. Jones. Mr. Reaburn
gave his word of praise to
Mrs. Stewart and wished her
well in her new
achievements. The program
closed with singing of the
Queen. Cameras started to
flash as parents and the press
took pictures of the
graduates.
?5th Anniversary
Millie and Bill Lobb
celebrated their 25th an-
niversary on Saturday
evening with an open
reception at the White Car-
nation. Along with Bill and
Millie to help -them celebrate
were some of the)r attendats,
their children, her mother
and Bill's mother, along with
a good 200 guests.
Wendy Tremeer of Clinton
read the address to the happy
couple which was full of:
laughs and humor. Dancing.
was enjoyed by all to the
music of the Shannons, and
lunch was served by the
White Carnation staff. A very
good time was had by all.
We of the community and
the 16th would like to wish'
Millie and Bill all the very
best, as they start into
another 25 years together.
Our sympathy goes to Mr.
and Mrs. Chester Sturdy and.
family in the loss of their
father the late Austin'Sturdy:

young people play and give
them your support. Schedules
are now out in the paper, and
at the Holmesville store. See

olds graduaticin
Thursday, June 23 was a
special day for the Grade 8
graduation class and the
students of Colborne Central
School. The graquatien class
and teachers and special
guests (approx. 50) enjoyed a
banquet •, in Colborne Town-
ship Hall at 6:15. The meal
was served and supplied by
Tiger Dunlop Women's
Institute with Mrs. Maitland
Montgomery as Convener of
Colborne

the dinner. At 8:00 p.m. the
graduates assembled at the
school where a splendid
crowd awaited them for the
presentation of awards.
Mr. Kane, principal of the
school, chaired the meeting,
and welcomed all present.
Awards were presented to
students of all grades. In
Grade 8, Melanie Dustow wpn
the "math award, Michele
Harris - English, Heather
Lowery - science, Peter
Feagan - social studies and
Tammy" Louch - French.
Heather Lowey and Scott
Kernighan won profioiency
awards. Valedictorian was
Michele. Harris:

Pro -Life
The Goderich and District
Pro Life group met on
Tuesday June 21 at the for-
mer St. Elizabeth School. The
meeting opened with prayer
with president Gordon Crabb
presiding.
A report was given by
Charity McDonald of a very
positive meeting held with
Huron County Health Office
Dr. Mills and County Healt
Nurses.
The Pro Life delegatio
was concerned with the sex
education material which i
circulating in the schoo
system. They indicated tha
certain material and in
struction was totally unac
ceptable to, them.
Dr, Mills promised that h
would look more closely a
the material which was bein
used in the schools. Th
delegation came away quit
satisfied that the Hurn
County Health Unit was in
terested and will monitor the
material.
The Pro Life delegation
consisted of Connie Osborn,
Dan' Murphy, and Charity
McDonald, of Goderich, Dr.
Bannister of Cambridge,
Adrian Keet and Sally
Campeau of Wingham . A
follow up to the meeting will
be done by this group.
The Goderich and District
Pro Life members completed
b,eir plans for their part in
the Jubilee 3 celebrations. A.
loat. will be entered in the
arade. Members will assist
n serving refreshments to
arade participants. An in-
ormation booth will be
manned at the County Fair on
my 7 and 8.

Hoernig and Mrs. Hallam..
During the presentations two
Grade 8 students, Jean Stimis
and Scott Kernighan,
presented Mrs. McCrostie
and Mrs. Hoernig with gifts
and Mrs. Hallam who was not
able to be present was
presented with a gift later at
the school. This concluded
another year of studies and
excellent work by the
children and teachers co-
operating.
CORRECTION
In last week's news,
mention was made that at the
Strawberry Fest, Benmiller
United Church was servefi by
the ladies of the
congregation. This was an
error. It was the Benmiller
Unit of the"U.C.W. who were
responsible for this wonderful
meal at the Strawberry Fest
and this was convened by
Lois Rowe and Dorothy
Fisher. Please accept " my
apologies.

Mrs. Eric Reaburn has
"returned home after several
weeks visit with her mother_.
ander` relatives in Winnipeg.
While there she attended the
wedding of her nephew.
The community is._pleased
to report that Mr. ' Jack
Wilson, RR 5, who has been a
patient in Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital,
Goderich, has returned home
and is recuperating
favourably. -
Also Mr. Ralph Jewell, who
underwent surgery in St.
Joseph Hospital, London, is
showing splendid signs of
recovery and expects he will
soon be home.
