Art Club
.hosts
'event
Over 100 people attended an
Open House held by' the Art
Club at the Goderich Public
Library en Thursday, Tune 2.
In connection with Jul ilee 3,
Most of the paintings on
display related to a pioneer
theme. The club is hoping to
'have exhibitions in the
library twice a year in co-
operation with Bill Partridge.
The Goderich Art Club is
well over 25 years old. In its
earlier days, the club was
encouraged and helped by an
artist named Tom Pritchard
from Manchester, England.
Fifteen or sixteen years ago
when Martha Rathburn was
president of the Art Club an
outdoor art exhibition was
sponsored by the club. This
exhibition• became known as
the Art Mart. It grew quickly
in popularity with busy ar-
tists from all over Ontario
wishing to participate. A few
years ago people who made
crafts decided to join the Art
Mart' as well and they have
remained to make the Art
Mart what it is today --a
summer tradition in the Court
House park on the Square.
Approximately 20 people
now belong to the Art Club.
