The Goderich Diamonds
slipped below .500 ball as they
split two league games in
Ladies Recreation Softball
action last week
The Diamonds racked up
their third victory of the
season as they humiliated
Zehrs, a _ new entry in the
league this year, 52-5 in a
game played last Monday.
The Diamonds scored in
every inning and led 16-0 after
two innings before Zehrs
managed "to'push two runs
across in the top of the third
inning. They added two more
runs in the fifth and a single
in the sixth inning.
Diana Glousher went the
distance in the win while
Rosy Barnett took the loss.

The runs were not as
plentiful as the Diamonds
met the Sailorettes June 15
and were defeated 20-10 for
their fourth loss of the season.
The Sailorettes scored four
runs in the first inning and
held a 1'5 lead after four
innings. They added five runs
in the bottom of the sixth to
clinch the victory.
Judy Crulickshank scored
four runs f'o'r the Sailorettes
while Marion Meriam and
Chris Maille'tt had three hits
each and sgored three runs.
Gale Schneiker and Sue Kolk-
man hit home runs for the
Diamonds.
Marion Merram went the
distance for the victory and
Diana Glousher took the loss.

The Goderich International
Truck Centre Bantams won
their only league game last
week, crushing Hanover here
Wednesday by a 24-3 score.
Jim Costello led the
Truckers hit parade with four
hits, while Larry Madge and
Dave Moore chipped in with
three hits apiece. Ted
Doherty, Rob McDonald, Dan
Maillet and Brian Shewfelt
had twp hits each. Willy
Denomme and Del Mit-
chelmore both hit safely once.
Dan Maillet, the starting
and winning pitcher, went
three innings for Goderich.
Larry Madge and Mike
Hodges each pitched two
innings in the one -aided
contest. Hanover managed --to
send only the minimum 15
batters to the plate in the first
five innings. They scored
their three runs in the
seventh.
The win upped the Goderich
Bantams league record to
five wins and one loss.
On Saturday, the Truckers
took part in the first annual
Kincardine Bantam Tour-
nament. They won their first
game, 16-2,. over Wingham in
a five inning contest, shor-
tened by the "mercy rule"
which ends the game at that
point if one team is more than
ten runs ahead.

Madge in the third inning
when he developed a sore
arm.
Rob McDonald had three
hits for Goderich, while Jim
Costello, Larry Madge, Dave
Moore and Willy Denomme
had two each. One of
Costello's was a fifth inning
home run. Ted Doherty, Mike
Hodges, Dave Willis and
Steve Walters each had one
hit.
The Truckers lost to Kin-
cardine 10-2, in the cham-
pionship semi-final. Kin -
cardine scored five runs Min
the seventh to break up what
had been 'til then a tight
battle. ` -
Dan Maillet went all the
way for Goderich, absorbing
the Toss. Maillet and Del
Mitchelmore had two hits
each for Goderich.

Men's Night. The winners

The ladies of the Goderich
'Lawn Bowling Club held their
first mixed pairs tournament
of the season on Sunday, June
19 with six greens being filled.
There were outside entries
from Wingham, Seaforth and
St. Marys. Winners for the
three games were Lee Ryan
and , Bea Aberhart of
Goderich, followed by Mel
and Esther Brady of
Seaforth. Third place was a
tie between two Goderich
teams, Fred Richardson and
Edna Stephens and Roy
Ballantyne and Irene White.
The Richardson team won the
toss.
Earl Allison and Bea
Ballantyne won the prize for
the highest third game
winner after two losing
games.
Weather and fellowship co-
operated to make it a most
successful day.
