Cleaners in second

doubled Brindley Transport
10-5 Monday night in
Industrial Softball action and
took over sole possession of
second in league standings.
French fought back from a 5-2
deficit and scored five runs in
the fourth to take a 7-5 lead
and secure the win.
Brindley took a two run
lead in the first when John
Warr singled, moved to third
on two wild pitches and
scored on a double by Phil
Black. Black moved to third
on a wild pitch and scored on
a single by Dave Sleightholm.
French tied it in their half
of the inning when Ron
Klages doubled and scored on
a single by Wayne McLean.
Rae Mathers singled • in
McLean after he had moved
around on an error to Clare
Harman.
Brindley scored twice in the
third and once in the fourth to
take a 5-2 lead. Sleightholm
singled and stole second to
lead off the third. Fraser
Strong singled him . in and
scored on a single by Glen
Linner after Bruce Bowman
sacrificed to get him in
scoring position. John Warr
grabbed a single in the fourth
Slo-Pitch to form in
Goderich township
For anyone who is in-
terested in playing slowpitch
baseball in Goderich
Township a meeting will be
held on Friday, June 24 to
form the team. Anyone who
would like to join is asked to
come to the Holmesville ball
diamond at 7:30 pm.

single. Don McWhinney
doubled him home and scored
on a single by Klages.
McLean- and George Sutton
each singled and Frank
MacDonald collected two
RBIs with a single after Clare
Harman smacked a sacrifice
fly.
Jim McWhinney drew a
walk in the fifth -and Klages
drilled one over the fence to
make it 9-5 and Harman
added the final run in the
bottom of the sixth.
Lyle Mahon started the
game for the Cleaners and
was charged with two runs in
the winning- effort.. Don
McWhinney took over and
was hit five times while loser

hits were home runs and the
Pontiacs used the Ishots to
edge Ziebart Rustproofers 6-4
Monday night in the battle of
the Industrial Softball
division leaders Ziebart was

gameand the Pontiacs were
eight and one in • their
respective divisions.
The Rustproofers ran up a
four run lea,d in the first three
Innings. Tont Love got the
Canada Company burst
for 10 rims and win.•
Don McWhinney had a no
hitter going until the fourth
inning when Lee Arbour
started off a 13 hit 10-5 route
of French Clean'ers by
Canada Company in
Industrial Softball action
Sunday. Arbour singled in the
fourth to spoil the no hit effort
and the Company bats
grabbed him and Lyle Mahon
for 12 more before the game
ended. Mabon came on in
relief in the fifth and was
grabbed for seven of the hits.
Arbour singled in the fourth
to start off a three run burst
that tied the game,. Casey
Wildgen slammed a double to
bring Arbour home gnd Glen
Tigert homered to tie the
game up.
French struck for three
runs and the lead in the first
three innings. Bill Gallow
ioubled with one out in the
first, moved to third on a wild
pitch and scored on a
Brooks -Bird
two hitter

Fisher fired a two hitter in
Industrial Softball action and
Fisher Custom Builders put
their fourth win of the season
together with a 6-1 win over
the Lakeport Steelers
recently. Fisher had three
strikeouts on his way to the
win.
Fisher also managed the
tying run in the third inning
on a rally started off by Fred
Pellqw. Pellow singled and
moved to second' on an error
to Doug Smith. Fisher beat
out the back end of a fielder's
choice that got Smith at
second and Jim Bell was safe
when Lakeport chose to hold
Pellow at third.. Bennis
LeBrun kept his hot bat going
dropping a double in to score
three runs.
The Builders collected the
other three runs in the fifth
using a two *run shot by
LeBrun and three Steelera
errors to score them. Jim
Durst singled to start off the
burst and LeBrun hammered
one out of the park tomake it
5-0. Bob McBride made it six
getting to first on an error
and moving to the plate on
two more Steeler mistakes.
Brian MacKenzie put the
Steelers on the board in the
sixth with half his club's hits.
MacKenzie got ahold of one of
Fisher's heaves and ham-
mered it over the fence to
make it 6-1. "Brooks -Bird"
got the next three batters to
fly out giving up one more hit
in the seventh before nailing
down the win. MacKenzie
took the loss giving up , five
hits and fanning eight
Builders.

George Sutton made it three
in 'the third with a home run
blast 'after Ron Klages had
doubled. Sutton scored the
final , run in the seventh
beating out the tail end of a
fieldei 's choice, moving
around on an error and
scoring on a single by Brian
McLean.
Arbour grabbed a second'
single in the fifth and scored
the go ahead run when Mike
Donnelly hammered a round
tripper. The Company added
another five in the sixth in-
ning sending 11 batters to the
plate. Mike Palmer and Tom
O'Brien each singled and
scored when Bob Dick
doubled. Arbour walked and
Mike Donnelly was given a
free trip when French chose
to hold Dick at third. Wildgen
slammed a double to clean
the bags and give the Com-
pany a 10-5 edge.
Glen Tigert earned the win
with a five hitter and
McWhinney worked four and
a third innings giving up five
runs in the loss while Mabon
gave up five in his two and
two third innings.
