Diversity
in Home
Furnishin
• The multi -dimensional Canadian
home is unique in its variety. Since
the earliest settlers set up
housekeeping in their new land. the
Canadian home has been a
conglomerate of ideas, some native,
but many imported.
Now, as then, the Canadian home
must serve many purposes. We
develop our homes around our varied
lifestyles. We live in apartments,
single family homes, mobile homes.,
duplexes, flats and townhouses. All
these -dwellings are as individual as
the people Who live in them and large
or small they reflect their
inhabitants' lifestyles..
Dependence on imported goods and
ideas has continued to this day.
But it appears more and more that
we are granting credence to our own
lifestyles, which differ markedly
from those in Europe the place from
which we have traditionally borrowed
so many ideas for our homes,
Diversity is the name of the game.
It is overwhelming to see the
choices one has in home furnishings,
I.ike so many years ago, the in-
fluences on our homestyles are en-
dless, he they ethnic or practical.
Besides the cool contemporary
styles. we have all the traditions of
centuries past from which to choose.
