During Days of Fun
in the Sun, preserve
your precious skin
Before you hit the beaches, pools,
tennis courts, gulf courses and boat
docks for a summer of fun, heed this
advice from sun •arid -skin experts.
1. 'Tau much sun exposure without
udequute protection can dry out, age,
even da,nage skin.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist to
recommend a sunscreen that protects
you against sunburn and stays on,
you swim ''
wim or perspire in the sun.
Most sunscreen products wash off,
requiring frequent reapplication to
maintain protet'tion.•
2. Don't try to get 0 summer's tan in
one weekend. Tan gradually, in-
creasing exposure time daily. Use a
good sunscreen for protection and
remember :the sun is hottest during
the midday hours,
3. The sun reflects off sand and
penetrates water, so even if you think.
you're protected by shade or to
umbrella, it's best to cover up after
sunbathing towel, robe, hat, etc.
Fair -skinned individuals and others
who are sun -sensitive should be
especially careful to avoid overex-
posure, even with the protection of a
sunscreen.
4. Mayes need. special protection
from the sun's powerful trltravforlet
rays.. ear top quality sunglasses, not
"fungtasses."' if the eyes can he seen
through the lenses, you don't have
proper sunglasses,
(Trey and green tints are most
widely recommended by vision ex-
pertss because th. y interfere least
with color perception.,
1-i. If you are taking medication,.
check with your doctor before sun-
bathing, Some drugs
