Need for farmers makes
good WI roll call
The theme was Agriculture
for the June, 1977 meeting of
the Dungannon Branch of the
Women's °Institute which was
held atthe home of Mrs. Ivan
Rivett.
President Mrs, Elmer.
Black, welcomed the 22 ladies
and also spoke of the welcome
rain.
Following the opening Ode
and Mary Stewart Collect the
roll call, Name a product we
would lack, if the farmer
never came back, brought a
variety of answers from milk
and eggs to leather products,
cereals and meats.
The minutes of ,the May
meeting and correspondence
were read: An invitation has
been received to visit
Lucknow W.I. on June 11, 2.4

given by Mrs. Harry Girvin.

June 9 to June 12 was, the
Ontario Nursing— ,Home
Weekend. The theme was.
"More than a Place to Live".
'At Maitland Manor; every
endeavor' is made to make the
home more than a place to
live, This is done by providing
programs and innovative
activities to suit the needs of
all the residents.
Nursing Home Weekend
also provides an opportunity
to thank the staff, auxiliary,
volunteers and the com-
munity who, though their
combined efforts. help make
the home a good place to live.
The volunteers who serve
the home deserve a special
thank you at this time.
Thanks is also extended to
all the groups and
organizations who from time
to time, put on special
programs to enrich the daily
lives of the residents.
It is hoped' that the com-
niunitywill regard Maitland
Manor as part of the com-
munity and will help the
home, its staff and residents
participate in community
activities by keeping in 'touch
with friendly visits or by
volunteering to drive
residents to special events,
especially in this year of the
Jubilee 3.
The public will have a
chance to visit the lovely new
home on. the occasion of the
official opening ceremonies
which will be held on Sunday
June 26, between the hours of.
'':30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Since the folks from th'e
Goderich Nursing 1-lorne on
Nelson Street have joined the
people at Maitland Manor, all
the usual activities have
continued.
The bowling season is over
and everyone enjoyed a
sumptuous banquet provided
by the A.C.W. at St. George's
Anglican `church. Phoebe
Waugh and . Vito Barbaro
were the high scorers for the
year. '
A new addition to Maitland
Manor is a very attractive
Tuck Shop which has been
organized and is being
operated by the newsy formed
Maitland Manor auxiliary.
The auxiliary is under the
very capable leadership of
Mrs, Flora Kenwetl and the
Tuck Shop is convened by
Mrs. Vi Bird
