Gladys and Jim Ruddock were honored by their
daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Banas and her family at a
reception held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Goderich
on April 30 on the occasion of their 50th Wedding
Anniversary.
• About 200 relatives, neighbours and friends attended
the dance to congratulate the couple and wish them
many more happy years.
Jim and Gladys Ruddock were married on April 30,
/927 in the Anglican parsonage, Glen Forest Road,
Toronto. Mrs. Ruddock is the former Gladys Rogers.
They resided in Toronto until May 1933 then .moved to
Colborne Township where they resided for three years
before moving to Goderich where .tl#ey spent 11 years.
They returned to Colborne Township where they have
resfded since.
-Mr. and Mrs. Ruddock have one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis
Banas of Etobicoke, six grandchildren and one gran-
ddaughter, all of whom reside in Etobicoke and were
present for the occasion. They also had one son who
drowned in June 1941.
Guests were present from Oakville, Agincourt,
Mississauga, Scarborough, Etobicoke and Clinton.
I.O.D.E. plans
garden party
for Saturday
Thirty-seven members and
three guests of the Maple
Leaf Chapter I.O.D.E, en-
joyed a pot luck supper,
Tuesday, June 7 at the cot-
tage of Mrs. R. Breckenridge.
Mrs. G.L. Royal, Regent
opened the business portion of
the meeting with a quotation
from the Provincial
President commemorating
the Queen's Silver Jubilee.
This was followed by the
Royal Anthem and the
Prayer of the Order.
Mrs. G. Kerr took her af-
firmation and was warmly
welcomed by the members.,
Mrs. R. Breckenridge
reported that twenty pairs of
slippers had been knitted for
the children's ward of . the
Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital.
The Opportunity Shop will.
be closed June 30 and will
reopen Tuesday July 12 do
that the members will be
available for the various
chapter activities celebrating
Tri-Julilee.
Mrs. H. ^Murphy reported
on the Garden Party to be
held Saturday, June 18, on the
lawns of Mrs. R. Hughes and
Mrs. G. McManus from 6-9
p.m.
Reports were given by the
delegates' to the annual
provincial convention in
Hamilton. The following
ladies attended; Mrs. W.
Garrow, Mrs. E.D. Hovey,
Mrs. J. McIntyre, Mrs. R.L.
McDonald and Mrs. G.L.
Royal.
It was noted thdt the
greenhouses at Atti *apiskat
are completed and in use;
that a program "Concern for
the elderly," was im-
plemented; and that a
collection of watercolours by
Mrs. Winnifred Petchey
Marsh were purchased by the
National Chapter for the new
museum in Yellowknife,
N.W.T.
Mrs. J. Stringer thanked
Mrs, R. Breckenridge for
having the pot luck.,supper at
her cottage.
The meeting closed with
God Bless Our Queen and
Canada. .
