Gaunt, the Liberal candidate, and Zyluk, the New Democratic Party hopeful, agreed that politics should not be permitted in the school and dropped their adversary roles for the morning and presented medallions to the students. (staff photo) Appearanc Huron -Bruce New Democrat Dave Zyluk assured his students at St. Joseph's Kingsbridge school that an invitation to Liberal candidate Murray Gaunt to present Silver, Jubilee medallions to the youngsters was purely coincidental Friday. Zyluk, the principal of the school, told the non-voting students that the in- vitation wqs extended to Gaunt when he was the MPP for Huron -Bruce and not the incumbent candidate. Despite Zyluk's suggestion that no political overtones should be allowed in schools, the grade school children gave Gaunt a resounding applause. Zyluk told the children that when he extended the invitation he did not know he would be the NDP candidate in a provincial election but noted" that by the sounds of the applause it was "evident the children wanted him to stay". Gaunt briefly outlined the meaning of the Silver Jubilee explaining Queen Elizabeth's 25th anniversary of her accession to the throne. He added that he -did not want to allow politics to cloud the true meaning of the celebration adding that he was proud to be asked to present the medals.
