Garnet Harland, retiring princiOal of Robertson School, was presented with a small gift of appreciation for his dedication to education in Huron County and •his assist nce in helping the Home and School get established two years ag9. Plans are in the making, at present, to introduce a Parent Volunteer Program into the elementary schools, at the primary level, early. in September. A letter will be going out from the Home and School, to all parents of children attending Robertson and Victoria, requesting names of interested parents. The following officers were elected for the 1977-78 executive: President, Sandra Davidson; Vice -President, Mary Dzus; Secretary - Treasurer, Joanne Norman; Chairman for Publicity, Sharon Scruton; Chairman for telephoning, Mickey Hamilton; Chairman for IVIemberships, Patricia Johnston. Mr, Don Keillor, director of the Huron Centre for Children and Youth, 'encouraged parents to go home and try out some interesting methods af - -m odif yin children's unacceptable behaviour. He said that if we give children an opportunity to express their hostility verbally, they will not be as likely to take out their frustrations in physical - assault. He advised that we listen to our children, giving them our undivided attention for even small periods of time. Respect their ideas and feelings, and their actions will become less hostile. Sitting quietly in school is an unnatural state for normal children's bodies although • one to be cultivated. Their bodies need lots of exercise forproper growth and development. Do not expect children to continue to remain inactive after school. • operation • Your eyes are impor- tant! CERTIFIED INSTROCTOR) Tennis Tip no. 8 More than any other stroke in tennis, the serve needs constant attention. It is usually the last stroke • mastered and the first to deteriorate once -you stop playing even for a few days. Two areas that give trouble to beginners, are the toss and keeping an eye • on the ball. The toss must be at least QS high as you can reach with your racquet. Its placement is to the right and slightly ahead of the body. When the toss is high, your arm is fully extended upon impact. This extension combined with the snap of the wrist adds power to the stroke. More important however is keeping your eyes on the ball os you extend your arm to hit. Even after impact the eyes remain looking at the same spbt. This technique aids'in imparting spin on the ball as well as assuring a good Bond hit.
