Squadron, a unit of Canadian
Power Squadrons, national
safe -boating organization,
held its ninth annual
graduation ceremonies,
Change of Watch and Com-
mander's Ball, at the San-
dpiper Inn, Vanastra Friday
evenin, June 3.
Although named for the
chief lake port, the Squadron
includes personnel from all
parts of Huron County whose
western border is Lake
Huron.
District Commander- Earl
Speller, Chatham, who
awarded certificates, stated
that all ten of those students
who wrote the examination,
were successful in. passing:

organization in Canada with
17,000 members enrolled in

presided stated that the
Goderich Squadron, roll now
stands at 56 including four
lady associates. He also
announced that the
Squadrons annual Sail Past
would be held in Goderich
Harbour on Sunday, July 3, as
part of the town's 150th an-
niversary celebration. It will
be open to all boaters - sail or
power he sid.

would be maudlin and who
needs it? Certainly, you guys
have suffered a lot from me
(and vice versa!) but through
thick (that's me) and thin
(that's you4) you know Id
stake everything I owned
(which isn't a great deal!) in
your behait, that's how much
I love and .deeply respect the
good people that gou are.
Youvx taught me a lot about
life and caring, and if that
ain't where it's at group, I'm
on the wrong planet. -
Please forgive my sen-
timentality, but every now
and then it's appropriate that
the folks nearest and dearest
be given their proper due and
let everyone in on the secrets
of your charm! You may be a
bunch of super -jocks but
youre also pussy -cats!! (oh -
oh, now I've let the cat out of
the bag!) I hope you can live
down • this special tribute
today: I won't take back a
word I've written and I don't
regret it. You deserve hap-
piness because you give
it.everytime you play
soccer. everytime you smile
that special smile,

opened the sailing season this
past Sunday with the first
official race of the season.
Some 11 boats competed in
the various classes, and
ilthough things started
slowly, the wind sodn picked
up and everyone had a great
