A pair of orioles has nested at the edge of the bush for
the past couple of years and I have been looking eagerly for
their return for the last month or more. It was not until
this past Sunday that I spotted the female. She is not as
brilliantly colored as her mate although her gold underside
was clearly visible in the branches until the leaves came

I couldn't, find the male until this past weekend and
finally spotted him ground -feeding beside the split -rail

The sight of all that beautiful, brilliant color simply
'made my day. I watched him breathlessly for almost half -
an -hour before he disappeared somewhere deep in the bush.
But for an almost blinding flash -of color, nothing sur-

palpitate even the hardest of hearts, '
Precious moments they are.
