Deepening concern over a
trend towards more public

private prompted a meeting

Blue Water Regional
Newspaper Network.

Joe Fieder's Orchestra will
be featured at the 5th Annual
Playhouse Pre -Season
Dance, it was announced
recently. The dance, a
'bonusevent for season
ticket holders, is scheduled
for Friday, June 10th, on
stage at the Playhouse.
The event, which attracts a
large crowd each year, is
sponsored by the Playhouse
Guild. Guild President, Beth
Jean, anticipates a record
crowd this year, as Guild
members began their part in
the annual subscriptien drive.
Leo Morningstar, Chair-
man for the subscription
campaign, noted that sales
were already up this year;
probably because of the new
$27, price (actually less than
last year). They offer six
admissions to the theatre,
plus free admission to t
dance for one couple.
Subscription tickets re
now available in a number of
locations: The Wedge,
Clinton; Clinton Commercial
Printers, Clinton; Bartliff
Bakery, Clinton; Dry Dock
Marina Restaurant,
Bayfield; Little Inn,
Bayfield; The Red Pump,
Bayfield; Bavarian Tavern,
Bayfield; Campbell's 'of
Goderich„ Goderich; and
Bedford Hotel, Goderich.

Dick Wright of the airport's
administrative sub-
committee, gave his ' firit
written report on the progress
of the air show to be held at
Sky Harbour airport during
the height of Jubilee 3
festivities, June 29 to July 10.
4Wright feels that the main
_problems have now ,been
solved sufficiently to
guarantee that an air show of
approximately 21/2 hours in
length will take place subject
to weather conditions.
Performers for the air show
have been secured. The cost
to date for these performers
totals $7,900.
The committee went on to
read the correspondence and
decided to accept an offer by
a female pilot's association to
paint markings for the air
show on the airport's taxi
strip free of charge.
The airport committee held
a special meeting last
Thursday _afternoon with
Colborne Township council,
Business Air Services and the
county planners to review the
commercial and recreational
development of the airport.
The committee decided at
Wednesday evening's
meeting to recommend to
Colborne Township council on
Thursday that residential
expansion around the
perimeter of the airport be
restricted in conjunction with
the regulation that every
building must be built at least
750 feet away from any
runway.
Construction of buildings on
lots near the proposed new
runway would not comply
with this regulation and
therefore building. permits
issued for these lots by
Colborne Township council
would conflict with the new
runway's development.
At a special meeting on
Friday evening, Colborne
Township council revoked
•two such building permits on
the advice of the soliditor.
